PARENT OUTREACH: SUNDAY, APRIL 5, 2020

Good morning RGPI Golden Eagle Parents!

We are getting excited about the launch of our District Remote Learning program. Our teachers have worked very hard to collaborate with educators around the district to determine Learning Targets, and as a staff, we have combined our efforts to provide students with lessons that will be educational, engaging, and relevant. Our goal is to engage learners, promote a love for learning, and provide assignments that will be accessible to all learners, regardless of their technology access.

It is important students understand they MUST participate in Remote Learning to receive credit and a Satisfactory grade (S) for Quarter 4. Students who do not participate will receive an Incomplete (I) and will not earn credit. Seniors, you need these credits to graduate as well as to have your NC for the school year removed!! Our juniors, sophomores, and freshmen have an amazing opportunity to earn credit in a platform that they will enjoy- they just have to engage!

While this week is technically a practice week, let’s shift our Mindset to what we need to do to SUCCEED! Students need to know the following:

Teachers will be posting their Office Hours in StudentVue on Monday, 4/6
These are times your teachers will consistently be available to assist you in any way they can. Start checking in this week, so you know how to access them.
Students need to check their school email when they have access- teachers will be communicating via school email as well.
For students checking out school computers, we will begin distribution of Monday, 4/6 in the drive-thru outside the front go the school on Boutz (part drop off lane). We will operate much like the meal distribution. Students will drive through to pick up tech. Students who need to walk to school may walk or ride bike to pick up, but there will be no congregating. Staff will help us manage any lines so we can maintain social distancing.
Monday, 4/6- Distribution will be from 10 am to 1 pm
For students, with no internet and not technology, and need to accessing our paper-pencil option, we will begin distribution of Monday, 4/6 in the drive-thru outside the front go the school on Boutz (part drop off lane). We will operate much like the meal distribution. Students will drive through to pick up tech. Students who need to walk to school may walk or ride bike to pick up, but there will be no congregating. Staff will help us manage any lines so we can maintain social distancing.
Monday, 4/-6 Senior student Distribution will be from 10 AM-1:00 PM
Tuesday, 4/7- Junior Distribution will be from 10 AM-1:00 PM
Wednesday, 4/8- Sophomore Distribution will be from 10 AM-1:00 PM
Thursday, 4/9- Freshmen Distribution will be from 10 AM-1:00 PM
Teachers will use this week to remotely engage with teachers and peers!

Start wrapping your mind around the fact that school starts next week- it will just look different!
Know that we are in this TOGETHER!!!
We got this Golden Eagles!!!

As always, the Las Cruces Public School District will do what is in the best interest of students. We have collaborated with the Office of Instruction and district leadership to ensure all seniors will have the same opportunities to graduate that were afforded to them before the closure of school. Counselors and Administration will work together to support the Class of 2020:

Counselors will be reaching out to seniors who need Quarter 4 credit recovery to graduate on time.
Technology will be checked out to students who need it to complete Dual Credit, VLA, or APEX.
A learning coach will continue to support students as they navigate online coursework.
If your student believes he/she is credit deficient, and has NOT been contacted by the school site, please email Yvonne Palmer RGPI Counselor immediately so we may further assist you. We will have more information on current grades soon and will communicate that as soon as possible.

While we wait for further guidance on commencement ceremonies, please be assured our primary goal is to ensure every student in the Class of 2020 graduates on time.

Thank you for your working together with us. I am confident we will accomplish this goal together.
