The Las Cruces Mayor’s Top Teens program recognizes outstanding young people who demonstrate leadership, academic achievement, community service, resilience, and a commitment to being positive role models for others.

Honoring the Anniversary of the Alexis Legarreta Memorial ENLACE Scholarship

Lexi's light continues to shine through the Alexis Legarreta Memorial ENLACE Scholarship Fund, created by her family and loved ones to honor her. A proud Mayfield Trojan, ENLACE participant, and freshman at New Mexico State University, Lexi inspired others with her compassion, exuberant spirit, and dedication to community. Today, her memory lives on by supporting graduating Mayfield High School ENLACE students in pursuing their dreams, just as Lexi dreamed of doing.

Over the years, this designated scholarship has provided vital support to students committed to continuing their academic or vocational journeys, ensuring Alexis’ legacy of leadership, humor, and community shine on in every life touched.

Sofia Avila, a 2025 recipient of the Alexis Legarreta Memorial ENLACE Scholarship shares:
“Being chosen for this scholarship is not just a recognition, but a profound reminder that my efforts are seen and appreciated. It fuels my ambition as I prepare to move into the next chapter of my life, with Alexis’ legacy inspiring me to keep pushing forward.”

Last night, ENLACE students from Vista Middle School, Mayfield High School, and Las Cruces High School did an incredible job presenting their Action Research Projects at the Las Cruces Public Schools Board Meeting.
Watching our students present in front of school board members, administrators, teachers, families, and community members with confidence and pride was truly inspiring. Speaking in front of a large audience takes courage, and each student represented their school, culture, community, and ENLACE with professionalism and heart.
Their presentations reflected not only hard work and dedication, but also their passion for creating positive change and using their voices to make an impact. We are beyond proud of the leadership, bravery, and growth they demonstrated last night.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our ENLACE students and believes in the power of student voice. The future is bright!
