New Mexico State University Police Chief Justin Dunivan will host a community meeting about safety on Monday, Aug. 24 at 12:30 p.m. in the Corbett Center Senate Gallery, Room 304.
“When we gather together, it breaks down barriers and builds the trust necessary for real communication,” said NMSU Police Chief Justin Dunivan. “It gives us a chance to share the actual data, dispel rumors and provide actionable tips that can keep people on campus and our greater community from becoming a victim of crime.”

At NMSU Grants, Adult Education is helping students turn second chances into new beginnings. Through support, strong relationships and a belief in every student’s potential, 89 participants have earned their high school equivalency credentials in the past year and a half.

For students like Stella Johnson and Santana Cheromiah, it’s more than a credential. It’s a reminder that new opportunities can begin at any point in life.

Las Cruces and New Mexico State University police teamed together Wednesday for a traffic safety operation that recorded 155 citations during a three-hour period.

Wednesday, Aug. 19, was the first day of classes for the 2026 fall semester at New Mexico State University. Officers from both police departments conducted the traffic enforcement operation along University Avenue.

“This is another great example of collaboration between departments in safeguarding our campus community,” said Justin Dunivan, Chief of the New Mexico State University Police Department. “Our primary goal is maintaining a safe campus, and that includes working with our public safety partners in ensuring all aspects of traffic and pedestrian safety.”

A new film, "Solitary," is being filmed in Las Cruces, bringing together six current students and 18 alumni across production.🎬

NMSU CMI professor and producer of the film, Ross Marks, made hiring NMSU talent one of his non-negotiable conditions before signing on alongside director David Midell.

"Solitary" follows five inmates navigating the harsh realities of solitary confinement.

When history happens we rarely recognize it in real time. But for two New Mexico State University alumni, selected by the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, they found themselves right in the middle of it.

Johanna Typaldos, a 2025 MFA graduate and Jennell Juarez, a 2025 BFA graduate, were invited to have their art join 12 other items representing New Mexico for America250, the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. 🇺🇸

New Mexico State University Library is one of 50 libraries nationwide selected to host “Americans and the Holocaust,” a traveling exhibition from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the American Library Association. The exhibition will be on display Aug. 24 through Sept. 25 at Zuhl Library, bringing a portion of the renowned museum’s collection and programming to the Las Cruces community.

The exhibition examines what Americans knew about N**i persecution and how they responded during the 1930s and 1940s. Drawing on primary sources, including newspaper articles, photographs and personal accounts, the exhibit explores the motives, pressures and fears that shaped American responses to N**ism, World War II and the Holocaust.
