On Friday, Sept 18th, NMSU School of Social Work and School of Nursing will be hosting a screening of the documentary film Shuffle.

Attendees can join online via zoom register using the QR code or in-person in the NMSU Health and Social Services Auditorium, from 6-8pm, with a facilitated discussion to follow. We are excited for you to join us.

Shot over the course of three years, SHUFFLE follows three individuals whose lives depend not on getting into treatment, but on getting out alive, and in the process, shines a light on the insurance-fueled cycle of addiction treatment fraud spreading across the country. With the filmmaker serving as narrator, using his own experience as a roadmap, these personal stories provide the framework for a public investigation with the help of an FBI informant, an insurance analyst and the former Executive Director of a Philadelphia-based treatment facility. The NMSU School of Nursing is very pleased to announce two important leadership appointments for our Nurse Anesthesiology DNP specialty track.

Dr. Kimberly Jones, DNAP, MSN, CRNA, has been appointed Program Director 🎉🎉🎉, and Dr. Jackie Kaiser, DNP, MSNA, APRN-CRNA, has been appointed Assistant Program Director!! 🎉🎉🎉
Together, they bring extensive clinical and leadership expertice, and are commited to preparing new nurse anesthesiologists!

Dr. Jones brings over 30 years of experience as a CRNA, with a DNAP degree and a variety of clinical and leadership roles, including Chief CRNA, Medical Officer Liaison, and Assistant Vice President of Perioperative Services. National service with the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology, and three years on the AANA Education Committee. Her knowledge will be a tremendous asset as she assumes leadership of the program.

Dr. Kaiser has a DNP in Population Health Leadership and holds a MS degree in Nurse Anesthesia. She been a CRNA for over 16 years across a variety of clinical settings and practice environments. She has served six years as Chair of the New Mexico Board of Nursing. While a member of the NMSU SON faculty, she played an integral role in the growth of the DNP-NA program, including developing, teaching, leading Clinical Residency courses and contributing to program curriculum and policy development.

We are extatic for the future of our Nurse Anesthesiology DNP program. Our first graduation was a huge milestone as we continue strengthening the program with dedicated faculty, strong clinical partnerships, and a commitment to preparing highly skilled nurse anesthesiologists to serve communities across the NM region.

As we enter the next chapter, we continue to strengthen and grow a program that is incredibly important to the SON, NMSU, and the healthcare workforce of NM, El Paso and the surrounding border region.
We are confident that Drs. Jones and Kaiser will provide the leadership, energy, and vision need to build a strong foundation.

We are looking for someone who is ready to support the daily operations of the simulation and skills labs by assisting with the set-up and take-down of equipment, supplies, and moulage to ensure student satisfaction during lab sessions and simulation events.

We would like to join inon the celebration of Dr. Jochebed B. Ade-Oshifogun's successful completion of her Fulbright Scholar assignment at Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria.
During her assignment from September 2025 through May 2026, Dr. Ade-Oshifogun taught graduate nursing students, facilitated research and professional-development workshops, mentored students and faculty, and supported the advancement of nursing scholarship within Babcock University’s School of Nursing.
Dr. Ade-Oshifogun’s Fulbright experience created opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, culture, and innovative approaches to nursing education.
We here at NMSU are proud of the work and dedication Dr. Bea Ade-Oshifogun provided through the scholarship experience and what she continues to work on here at the School of Nursing!

Happy Friday to the NMSU community!
We want to finish the weekend off strong with the first Friday Faculty Feature of the Fall Semester!
Today we highlight College Assistant Professor,
Brandy Natividad, MSN-Ed, RNC-OB, C-EFM!!🎉🎊🎉

Professor Natividad has been a nurse for 25 years and teaching for 10 years. Currently you can find her teaching Level 3 Clinical Instructor, Level 4 CI 1, 2, and Level 5 CI 3.

One of the most surprising skills nursing has given Brandy outside of the hospital is the ability to remain calm. She says nursing teaches you to think clearly and act quickly in stressful situations, which are skills that carry over into everyday life. Whether managing unexpected challenges, balancing responsibilities, or helping family and friends during stressful moments, Brandy is able to approach situations with a calm and focused mindset.

We are proud to have such a full team of smart and wonderful faculty! If she was not here foro our nursing students, Brandy says she would have chosen a career in education. As she has always enjoyed teaching, mentoring, and helping others grow. Supporting others in learning new skills and building confidence, which she finds very rewarding.

Good morning Aggies!!
We have officially hit a week into our Fall 2026 semester, how is everyone feeling?

2009 Graduate Heather Holcomb, BSN-RN 🎉🎊

Before nursing school, Heather was working as a scrub tech when she decided that she wanted to enhance her education and job opportunities. She decided to pursue her BSN degree. When we asked her about her time at NMSU, she said, clinical instructors were the best. Ms. Leon, Ms. Cates, and Mrs. Ferriero were calm, collected, and easy to talk too.

Heather Holcomb has been accepted into University of Florida's DNP-PMHNP program! Starting this Fall 2026.

We are so proud of what you have acheived so far, and we look forward to seeing where you go Heather!
