Back-to-School Tips for a Successful Year!

Back-to-school season can bring excitement, new routines, and sometimes a little stress. For students with dyslexia, having predictable routines and simple organizational strategies can make the transition easier.

While ADHD and dyslexia are different, some strategies can be helpful for students with either learning difference.

A few ideas to try:
• Create a consistent morning routine
• Use visual reminders or checklists
• Keep schoolwork organized with simple systems
• Set a regular homework time and take short breaks
• Stay connected with your child's teachers and school

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to our incredible therapists at the Dyslexia Institute of Southern New Mexico!
This week, we celebrate the dedication, patience, creativity, and care our therapists bring to students every single day. They do so much more than teach reading and learning skills. They encourage confidence, celebrate growth, and help students discover their strengths.
We are also grateful for the many ways they support our community beyond the classroom, including helping make our recent student art show such a success.
Thank you to our amazing DISNM therapists for all that you do. We appreciate you more than you know! Back row: Ms. Zeta, Ms. Ardith, Ms. Cheryl. Front row: Ms. Ute, Ms. Ellen. Not pictured: Ms. Shannon.

We are so proud of all the students who shared their creativity and hard work. It was truly inspiring to see their talent on display and to celebrate each of their unique voices.

A special congratulations to Adriana for winning first place! We are so happy for her and this well-deserved recognition.

Thank you to everyone who supported the event and helped make it such a meaningful experience for our students and community, especially Curtis & Tiffany at MAS Art who hosted us!

Dear Friends of the Dyslexia Institute of Southern New Mexico,

We are so grateful for your continued support and your passion for our mission to make dyslexia therapy accessible to as many students as possible.
We are excited to share that we are expanding our services to the East Mesa, in addition to the 7 therapists currently serving students at the Electronic Caregiver Building. With more students comes a greater need, and we are ready to grow!

Right now, we have a wonderful opportunity to make your support go even further. Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico is offering a dollar-for-dollar match for the first $500 donated through the Southern New Mexico website, from April 13 through April 24.

As you consider the many meaningful organizations participating, we hope you will consider supporting DISNM. Every gift will be put to work making a real difference in the lives of our students.

You can donate here:

Thank you again for your generosity and belief in our mission.

I’m ready to support Dyslexia Institute of Southern New Mexico on April 13, 2026 during Southern New Mexico Giving Day 2026. Learn more about Dyslexia Institute of Southern New Mexico and all the other organizations participating in Southern New Mexico Giving Day 2026.
