Introducing basic signs around 4–6 months can help build communication skills, and many babies begin to imitate signs around 6–9 months of age.

Learning can happen one little piece at a time! 🦃

During this Parents as Teachers activity, this little learner practiced placing, gluing, and putting the pieces together to create a colorful turkey. Hands-on activities like this help build fine motor skills, focus, problem-solving, and creativity while making learning fun.

This simple paper craft gave caregiver and child a chance to explore, create, and spend meaningful time together during their Parents as Teachers visit. Activities like this can encourage fine motor skills, problem-solving, creativity, and social-emotional development through everyday moments of play.

A little creativity can support so much growth! 🎨

During a recent Parents as Teachers visit, caregiver and child worked together on a fun paper plate craft and were so proud of what they created. Along the way, the activity supported fine motor skills, cognitive development, and social-emotional growth while creating a meaningful opportunity to connect, create, and enjoy time together.

We are excited to welcome Leyla Salvo to the Aprendamos Family of Services team as our Nurse Supervisor for Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP)! 🎉

Based in Roswell and serving families throughout Chaves County and southeastern New Mexico, Leyla brings a wealth of experience and a passion for supporting mothers, infants, and families.

As a Registered Nurse and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), she has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers families during some of life's most important moments.

"I look forward to partnering with families across southeastern New Mexico, supporting our nursing team, and empowering mothers to build healthy, confident futures for themselves and their children."
