Hi all,
Here are a few notes from our meeting this week:
Senate Reports:
Senate meetings for the semester have come to a conclusion, the meetings will resume again late January
Due to NMSU's recent financial straights the cost per credit currently is going to increase in the near future. (You can view a detailed break down of course costs as they are now here. )
There has been discussion about introducing a fall break into the fall semester that by beginning the semester on a Monday or Tuesday rather than Thursday would allow for a short break in October to help relieve anxiety during midterms. This would not affect Thanksgiving break.
This Sunday will be Noche De Luminarias from 6-9 pm outside and around Corbett Center. (Volunteer Opportunity, Contact Morgan Boone with Questions, [email protected])
New Organization:
Welcome Students in Computing to the Arts & Science Council, Thank you for representing this club David Noel. Students in Computing is focused on computer science, engineering, hacking, study sessions, and other computing related fun.
New Elections
The council has new leadership! Chuck Caves of the Student Veterans Association will be serving as the new AS Council president and his companion Otis was voted to be the councils mascot during the duration of his term. Walter Miller of the Society of Astronomy Student and Physics Students respectively has been elected as Treasurer. Derek Brown will continue to serve as secretary and Jonathan Loya will continue to serve as Vice President.
This was our last meeting of the semester, thank you for your participation, have a wonderful holiday season!
