Looking at my weight loss from the last 3 months… I am humbled and grateful to have made it this far… but I need to find a way to turn it on again 💪🏾

I posted the following on my LinkedIn and decided to copy and paste it. Please read it as I feel I shared and important message that anyone can take away from.

“I know this isn’t your normal “social media” but I felt this could be shared on here as well.

People my whole career have looked at me as “lazy and unmotivated “ because I was overweight. I was on such bad shape because I was wrapped up in work too much… early mornings and late nights led to way too many McDonald’s trips. I was 512lbs on July 4th, 2024. After working my butt off since then, plus making myself a higher priority and realizing that I could not live like I did before, I weighed myself today and saw the number in the attached picture (429.3 cuz it is hard to read).

It goes to show when you allow a worker to make themselves a priority and don’t judge them off of stereotypes, then they can make things better for themselves. For those who struggle with physical and mental health, look at this post as a sign that things can be better when you make yourself more important than work. One thing one of my current bosses told me earlier this year is “while your position is replaceable if something happens to you, it doesn’t mean that you are replaceable.” That hit me and motivated me to make things better. Bosses who see this, let your workers know what my boss did and help them get to a good place. And workers, please make sure that you are in a good place and if not then don’t be afraid to ask for help.”

Saw an interesting post on X (link in comments) where the poster tried to use emotional words like “steal” to describe the Eagles big win last night. I get what they are saying by saying the Eagles stole from the other NFC East team, but we must remember that in sports there is a better phrase to understand.

“One persons trash is another persons treasure”

The Giants gave Saquon away by not seeing his value or having the coaching to take advantage of him.
The Cowboys gave Kellen Moore away by picking Mike McCarthy instead of moving on a few years ago.
And honestly the Commanders gave away Jahan Dotson, which I didn't even remember seeing him leave Washington for Philly 🤷🏾.

For those teams, nobody stole anything. It is like seeing those yard sale stories where they sell a rare painting or baseball card in a box of junk. You don't take care of yours, someone who is smarter than you will find the value in it.

I’ve had people ask me why I haven’t talked about the Raiders HC and GM hire and other teams, and I am waiting for all the jobs to be filled before posting on my website and here about what I think. Posting more is one of my goals for 2025, especially since I am looking to use my MBA and want this page and website to show my knowledge and thought process.

Even I am shocked by this move. With the bad PR due to the “can’t sleep if he goes to Philly” clip online and flack from fans, who would even go so far as to fly advertising from planes at the stadium, I figured at least the GM would be changed. The NFC East is a hard enough division as it is to rest on your hands with many young HC candidates. They better hope to do a splash move in Free Agency this spring if they want to catch up to the Eagles 🦅 and Commanders.

BREAKING: The Giants are retaining HC Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen, the team announced.

I’ve had people ask what I think about the NMSU decision to change their athletic director. Having briefly met Moccia, he seems like a good guy who sadly made some mistakes while in the position of AD. I am hopeful that he is able to move on positively after everything that happened at NMSU. I also hope that NMSU does their due diligence in hiring the next Athletic Director. The students, athletes, and alumni deserve someone who will come in and make necessary changes in culture that NMSU leadership felt was needed and missing.

One thing I’d like to share is whether it is with sports or life, always consider mental health. Always consider it for others, but especially yourself. As the holidays roll around, we all know that so many people are suffering. Many suffer from loss of loved ones or loss of loved situations. Every holiday season, we see increased rates of violence, especially domestic violence, and self-harm. Show love and kindness as we don’t know what others are going through.

If you are in this situation, find help. Reach out to others. Realize that you are not alone in this world. I have found quite a few people and groups recently that have helped me tremendously. The past few days have been a weird roller coaster in my mind… thinking about lost family, lost students, and just loss in general. I have a very small list of people I reach out to with this serious stuff. It helps me try to stay positive and it also helps me stay the funny and sarcastic guy that people know.

As I chilled around and thought about s**t throughout the day, I thought about my journey. Where I have been and where I am and where I want to go….

Each time showed me how I have accomplished so much s**t, yet I am not happier at all in the 15 years that I have been a teacher so far…

What do you do when you’re not happy? Better yet, what do you do when you don’t know what happiness is? What do you do if you don’t know what will make you happy, yet you also feel like you’re looking for something that you don’t know how to find?

I got my masters hoping it would open new doors and give me better opportunities. I got it hoping that things would slowly get better and I would find what I am wanting in life….

At the end, I just played things safe. I need to learn how to overcome my mental hurdles… believe in myself and what I have earned… in order to get my dreams and get what I deserve. If you read this, follow your heart and follow your dreams. If you read this, take that chance on yourself because you deserve it. That is what these next few weeks for me will be…
