Psalm 141
A psalm of David.
1 O Lord, I am calling to you. Please hurry!
Listen when I cry to you for help!
2 Accept my prayer as incense offered to you,
and my upraised hands as an evening offering.

3 Take control of what I say, O Lord,
and guard my lips.
4 Don’t let me drift toward evil
or take part in acts of wickedness.
Don’t let me share in the delicacies
of those who do wrong.

5 Let the godly strike me!
It will be a kindness!
If they correct me, it is soothing medicine.
Don’t let me refuse it.

But I pray constantly
against the wicked and their deeds.
6 When their leaders are thrown down from a cliff,
the wicked will listen to my words and find them true.
7 Like rocks brought up by a plow,
the bones of the wicked will lie scattered without burial.[a]

Proverbs 10:18-19
New Living Translation
Hiding hatred makes you a liar;
slandering others makes you a fool.
Too much talk leads to sin.
Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
Commentary: By hating another person you may become a liar or a fool. If you try to conceal your hatred, you end up lying. If you slander the other person and are proven wrong, you are a fool. The only way out is to admit your hateful feelings to God. Ask Him to change your heart, to help you to love instead of hate.

Proverbs 10:18 gives us a powerful warning about hatred, resentment, and our words:
“Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool.” — Proverbs 10:18 (ESV)
The verse describes two destructive responses to hatred: hiding it behind false words and spreading it through gossip or slander. Both are foolish because hidden resentment poisons our hearts, while slander damages others and destroys relationships.
God calls us to deal with hurt differently: acknowledge it, bring it to Him, examine our hearts, forgive, and speak truthfully and lovingly when necessary.
God isn't only concerned with changing our words or behavior—He wants to change our hearts.

Father, help me not only to control my words but to surrender my heart to You. Remove resentment, hatred, and bitterness, and replace them with love, forgiveness, and grace. Amen.

Something to ponder:
Do you wear the cloak of religion, or do you shine God's light so that those around you can see Jesus through your life?
It's possible to look religious on the outside while never allowing Jesus to transform the heart. True faith isn't just about appearances—it's about a heart changed by Him, reflecting His love, grace, and truth to the world.

God is all-inclusive! He welcomes everyone, no matter what they've done, where they've been, or what they've been through. His love, grace, and mercy are for all.

Manipulation is an attempt to control or influence others through deceit, coercion, intimidation, or dishonesty. It is often driven by selfish ambition, pride, fear, or a desire for power and personal advantage. Scripture makes it clear that these attitudes are contrary to God's character and His will for His people.

The Bible calls believers to walk in truth, love, humility, and integrity—not to manipulate others for personal gain. Manipulation damages relationships, undermines trust, and seeks to accomplish through human control what should instead be entrusted to God.

Throughout Scripture, we find examples of manipulation and the painful consequences that follow. These accounts serve as warnings, reminding us to reject deceptive practices and to pursue righteousness in all our interactions.

As followers of Christ, we should regularly examine our hearts and ask ourselves: Am I seeking to control others, or am I trusting God? Am I speaking truth in love, or am I using words to influence others for my own benefit?

The Bible is clear: manipulation is not from God. Instead, He calls us to live with honesty, integrity, humility, and genuine love, trusting Him to accomplish His purposes in His perfect way and timing.

Do not forget the conclusion of the cross! Motivate all to come to Christ!
