LaPoynor ISD is devastated to learn of the passing of a Cayuga ISD student. We encourage our students and community to wear black and gold on Tuesday, September 8 in support of our friends and neighbors in Cayuga. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families impacted by this tragedy, as well the entire community of Cayuga in this difficult time.

Dear LaPoynor ISD and surrounding communities,
This year, I have started a leadership program for our secondary students named "The Navigator Program." Students who were nominated by staff for this program are now in the application phase, with final participant determinations occurring the week of September 8-11. This group will meet once a month for lunch to hear from local community leaders sharing stories centered around three main ideas:

1. What obstacles in life have you had to overcome to get where you are today?
2. How do you develop the "grit" to get through those difficult situations?
3. How do you measure the positive impact you are having on others in your current position?

We have a few slots filled for our monthly lunches, but we are looking to add a few more people. If you are interested in visiting with our students and helping them grow their ability to persevere in life no matter what career path they choose, please reach out to me directly at [email protected]. We would love to have you. It's been a great start to the school year, and we look forward to many more great things to come. Go Flyers!
