Daniel Drimmel - LHS Building Rep
Daniel is currently teaching Biology, Ecology and Earth Science at the HIgh School. He is starting his 10th year at the high school. He has over 15 years of experience in education, 4 of those years he was a biology and A&P adjunct instructor for a local college. Daniel is married to Susie (3rd grade teacher at LES) and they have 5 children and 6 grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and taking pictures.
Why NEA? “Before going into education, I was a member and a union steward for UFCW, Local for 9 years. I specialized in utilizing other available resources beyond the collective bargaining agreements such as state and federal regulations, EEOC, FMLA, to protect employees rights. As the FLNEA LHS building representative, it is my goal to provide support and be an advocate to my fellow educators at Fort Larned High School.”

Stacy Hamrick - TriCo Building Rep
Stacy will be starting her 27th year at TriCounty as the occupational therapist. She is married with two children; Mark is in college, and Maddie is a senior at LHS. She loves traveling, camping and reading.
Why NEA? “I carry malpractice for the physical aspect of my job. NEA’s added protection from any educational concerns that might arise, including due process.”

Debbie Makings - Vice President
Debbie has been in education for 27 years, 17 years in Larned. She currently teaches preschool at LES. Her husband is a sheriff deputy. They have two grown married daughters Dava (Kolby) and Alea (Brayden) and one adorable grandson Kalder. She enjoys cooking, gardening, making charcuterie boards and spending time with her family.
Why NEA? “The support and backing from the organization is the main reason I’m a member. If you have a question or concern, someone is available to answer it very quickly.”

Liz McDonald - LMS Building Rep
Liz has been with TriCounty for 18 years as a special education teacher at the middle school. She is married with two boys; Caleb is a junior, and Camden will be in 6th grade. Her family stays busy racing, attending concerts, and all sports activities. Liz loves to read and be with her family.
Why NEA? “Knowing that NEA is there to help and support me, if I should ever need it.”

Amanda Johnson - Social Media Coordinator and LES Building Rep
Amanda is starting her 22 year in education, 5th year at TriCounty, and will be the 4th and 5th Special Education teacher at LES. She is married to Cory Johnson, and they have two kids, Jax (freshman) and Averi (3rd grade). The Johnson’s are busy with sporting events, horse shows, and spending as much time in their pool on their farm south of Rozel.
Why NEA? “NEA is all about supporting educators and students. Everyone can identify at least one attack on education today and NEA has our back! I have been a member for many years but now is the time to act. It is too hard to be a teacher without the support of our Union. When we are heard, respected, and given the resources we need, we can give our students and community the very best education and support possible.”

Dakota Turnbough - Treasurer
Dakota is beginning her second year as the K-5 special education teacher at Kinsley-Offerle. She has been in education for 7 years. She has been married for 7 years and has three daughters Lyssa (6), Tessa (4), and Eliza (3) who all attend LES. Lyssa was diagnosed with autism at age 2, which prompted her interest in autism and led to it being one of her specialties in her career. She is currently working on her Master's in High Incidence Special Education with an Endorsement in Low Incidence and a Certificate in ABA through WSU. In her free time, she enjoys reading and writing, as well as watching movies and playing with her children. Her favorite place to go is to the Sedgwick County Zoo.
Why NEA? “To be able to advocate not just for teachers, but also support staff and students. As well as the protection it serves as when I began teaching I was in a high risk position, and appreciate having the support within my profession.”

Nancy Baldwin - Secretary
Nancy, a Larned alum, has been in education for 7 years. She has taught English for 3 years and will be working with 8th and 10th graders. She is married with three adult step-children. She enjoys reading, playing board games, and spending time with friends.
Why NEA? “I am a member of NEA for multiple reasons. First is for the collective bargaining power, second is for the legal protection given if something were to ever pop up where I would need it, and third is for the benefits members receive beyond the legal assistance.”

Meet the 2024-2025 Fort Larned NEA Executive Board Members

Chris Scheideman - President
Chris teaches 11th and 12th English Language Arts at Larned High School. He also coaches the Debate and Forensic team. Chris has been married for 20 years and has two daughters, Kendra (15) and Kaylee (11). Chris has been a dedicated Larned Indian for 15 of his 17 years in education. He loves watching movies, reading books, and riding bikes.
Why NEA? “I became a member to speak on behalf of all teachers. I believe teachers need other teachers to advocate for them at the local and state level, which is why I have been on the UDRA for over ten years. At the UDRA, KNEA members vote on policies that will impact the direction of KNEA. I believe NEA and KNEA offers incentives, assistance, and advocacy. Also, FLNEA negotiates with the school board and superintendent for the negotiated agreement and certain benefits.”
