Summer reading helps students strengthen literacy skills, build confidence, and stay engaged in learning while school is out.

We're grateful to our partners, the Tampa Bay Rays and Tampa Bay Rowdies, for encouraging students to keep reading all summer long through fun reading programs that reward learning with exciting prizes and experiences.

Our scholarship recipient Naveen is heading to the University of Florida this fall to study engineering while continuing his passion for music and service.

Through our Foundation, he received the Korean War Veterans Memorial Scholarship thanks to the generosity of Public Service Education Foundation of Pinellas Park, an award that holds special meaning to him because his grandfather served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Along with this year’s scholarship, Naveen also placed first in the Instrumental category at Rising Stars last year as an 11th grader at Palm Harbor University High.

Despite taking an IB History exam just before his final performance at the Mahaffey, Naveen took the stage determined to play “with heart, not just hands.”

For Naveen, music is about more than performance. Inspired by his grandfather, he co-founded Healing Harmonies Music with his sister, performing regularly at assisted living centers and senior communities.

“This experience has taught me about the power of music as a source of healing and a way to bring people together,” he said.

🚛🦾🚑 What do a landfill, a surgical robot, and an ambulance have in common? They were all part of the Enterprise Village Summer Camp experience.

After revisiting Enterprise Village, students visited two businesses featured in the village to see how their jobs connected to real careers.

At Pinellas County Government Solid Waste, they toured the landfill, learned about sustainability, and discovered how the county manages its waste.

"The landfill only can go 150 feet. I didn't know there was a policy about how high they can go." — Ryland

At BayCare Morton Plant Hospital students explored rehabilitation, the emergency room, respiratory therapy, the operating room, and more. They toured an ambulance, learned infant CPR, and tested surgical equipment.

"I didn't know they had so many people in a giant community. I liked that we got to see a lot of things." — Luke

Building stronger connections to create even greater impact. 💙 Our annual staff retreat allowed us to connect as a team while reflecting on the last five years of impact through our Foundation with students and teachers at the heart of it all.

From a morning session to an afternoon at Board & Brush Safety Harbor, FL, the day was filled with conversation, encouragement, creativity, and plenty of laughter as we admired each other’s projects and enjoyed time together outside the office.

Our Take Stock in Children scholar Aleia is heading to the University of Notre Dame on a full scholarship.

“I knew I wanted to leave Florida,” Aleia from Osceola Fundamental High said. “But it felt more like a dream than a reality. I knew I couldn’t really afford it.”

That changed when she received a phone call letting her know she had been accepted to Notre Dame with a full scholarship.

“I always wanted to make my dad proud,” she said. “I wanted all of his sacrifices to be worth it.”

Aleia has been part of our Take Stock in Children program since seventh grade, where she built leadership skills through clubs and explored her passion for law. At Notre Dame, she plans to study Strategic Management as she prepares for law school and a future in entertainment law.

She credits the support she received along the way for helping her reach this moment. “Take Stock in Children has been such a helpful experience,” she said. “Everyone has been so encouraging. I am very grateful for everyone.”
