Earlier this week, members of our leadership team attended the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations ConnectED Conference, centered on the theme Communities That Count: Why Student Math Confidence Is Everyone’s Business.

The conference highlighted the important role math confidence plays in shaping students’ futures, strengthening communities, and supporting Florida’s economy. Math is about more than numbers and equations. Helping students see its relevance in everyday life builds confidence, strengthens problem-solving skills, and prepares them for future success.

A special shoutout to Pinellas County Schools Elementary Math Specialist Marlena Sinclair for sharing her expertise and insights during the conference! We love seeing Pinellas County educators contributing to important conversations about student success across Florida.

“I want to be the helping hand when people are scared, hurt, or possibly lost.” 🧡 That’s Alyssa’s vision for her future as a nurse, and just one example of the impact of the Rotary Club of Indian Rocks Beach’s generosity.

For 21 years, the club has supported Pinellas County students through senior scholarships and Take Stock in Children. Our Chief Development Officer, Elizabeth Szostak, recently shared more about our Foundation and the impact of partnerships like theirs. Thank you for helping students turn their goals into reality!

🔧 A behind-the-scenes look at Pinellas Technical College! 🔨 Members of our team recently toured the Clearwater Campus for its Manufacturing Showcase & Machining Technologies Grand Reopening. We got a firsthand look at students learning in the machining, welding and cabinetmaking labs and gaining hands-on experience with the tools and technology used in these fields. We love seeing the many pathways available to students as they prepare for life after high school.

When Huy joined our Take Stock in Children mentoring program, he didn’t know how much one relationship would shape his future.

Today, he’s a University of Florida graduate with a degree in computer engineering and is continuing his education toward a master’s degree. During college, Huy and his team developed an AI-powered device designed to help medical professionals document emergency situations.

But when Huy looks back on his journey, it’s the people who believed in him that stand out most.

“Having a mentor inspired me to be a mentor in my church with younger kids and in school for students who were struggling with their academics. I want to pay it forward. Take Stock in Children opened my eyes to how much of a difference kindness and helping people can make.”

Now, Huy is using what he learned to help others, too.

🎉👏 Congratulations to Superintendent Kevin Hendrick on being honored as a Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hero at the Lightning's home opener this weekend! His leadership, partnership, and commitment to early literacy are making a difference for students through the Pinellas Early Literacy Initiative, helping more students be ready for Kindergarten and read proficiently by third grade. As part of this honor, the Lightning Foundation awarded us $50,000 for continued early literacy support. What an incredible investment in our students!

We are grateful for Mr. Hendrick’s partnership and continued focus on academic excellence.
