We need your help. Tag a mom or dad that has a loss child to gun violence

4 YEARS. 4 BOAT RIDES. ONE MISSION. đź’›

For the fourth year, we’re creating space on the water for parents whose lives were forever changed by gun violence.

This year feels especially meaningful because our Annual FREE Boat Ride is now being led by Mothers on Purpose, a nonprofit that was born from the relationships, stories, and connections we’ve built with grieving mothers through this very initiative.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, we’re inviting parents who have lost a child to gun violence to join us for an evening of community, connection, remembrance, and simply being around people who understand.

There is no cost to attend. đź’›
Because grief has already cost these families enough.

HERE’S WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP:

You may not need this event but someone on your timeline does.

👉🏾 TAG a mother or father who has lost a child to gun violence.
👉🏾 SHARE this post to your story or page.
👉🏾 Send it privately to a family who may need this kind of space.

Our goal is to reach the parents who need to know that spaces like this exist.

And if you believe in what we’re building, follow as we continue creating resources, programming, and community for mothers and families impacted by gun violence.

One share could put this invitation in front of the exact parent who needs it. đź’›

Let’s fill this boat with love, community, and remembrance.

There was a time when my only prayer was: “God just help me make it through today.”

I couldn’t imagine smiling again.
I couldn’t imagine laughing again.
I couldn’t imagine building a life that wasn’t consumed by grief.

But here I am.

Not because grief disappeared.
But because God never left.

If you’re in that place today, wondering if you’ll ever feel like yourself again, I want you to know this:

Your story isn’t over. 🦋

💬 Tell me in the comments: What’s one thing that’s helped you make it through your grief?

🤍 If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs a reminder that healing is possible.

P.S. 👀 You’re going to want to turn your post notifications on. In just a few days, I’ll be announcing something that’s been years in the making, and I can’t wait to finally share it with you. Stay tuned 🦋✨

Did you know August is National Grief Awareness Month? 🤍

Most people don’t and that’s exactly the problem.

Grief is one of the most universal human experiences yet it’s one of the least talked about. We’ve been taught to push through it, get over it, and keep it moving.

This month I want to change that.

Whether you’re in the middle of a fresh loss, still healing from something years ago, or supporting someone you love through grief this one is for you.

Because the conversation is long overdue.

And trust me this month I have a lot to share. 🤍

✨ Drop a 🦋 if grief has touched your life in some way.

People saw pieces of my life.

They saw the traveling.
The hanging out.
The businesses.
The ambition.
The way I kept moving.

What they didn’t always see was what was happening underneath it all.

Some of it was joy.
Some of it was growth.
Some of it was survival.
Some of it was me doing the best I could with grief I still didn’t fully understand.

For a long time, I shared the highlight reel.

Now I’m ready to share more of the story behind it.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be opening up about the parts people didn’t see, what grief really looked like for me, and what I learned along the way.

Comment below and tell me which slide felt the most familiar to you.

People know that I lost my mother.

What most people don’t know is what happened after.

The pressure to stay strong.
The years I spent in survival mode.
The parts of myself I lost along the way.
The moments I questioned whether I would ever feel like myself again.
The slow process of rebuilding a life I never expected to live without her.

I’ve shared pieces of my story, but I’ve never shared the whole journey.

Until now.

Over the next few weeks, I’m opening that door little by little.

There is so much more to this story than what people saw on the outside.

Comment “READY” if you’re coming on this journey with me.

96 days.

That’s how close we are.

To something I’ve been working on for years.

Something that stretched me.
Something that challenged me.
Something that changed me.

There were moments I questioned it.
Moments I wanted to quit.
Moments I wondered if it would ever be ready.

Now we’re just 96 days away, and I still can’t believe I’m finally saying that.

The wait has been worth it.

This is only the beginning. 🤍

✨ Comment “I’m ready” if you’re coming on this journey with me.

Today is International Grief Coaching Awareness Day 🤍 and I just want to take a moment to say this work chose me before I chose it.

Losing my mom changed everything and when I came out on the other side, I knew I couldn’t keep that to myself. So I got certified, I built CaniGrieve University, and I have been showing up for women ever since.

Since 2023, I have had the privilege of walking alongside dozens of clients through some of the hardest moments of their lives, countless tears, breakthroughs, and moments where someone finally felt seen in their grief.

Grief coaching is not therapy and it was never meant to be. It is a space where you are not rushed, not judged, and not handed a timeline for when you should be “over it.” It is someone walking alongside you, holding you accountable, and reminding you that healing is possible even when it does not feel that way.

If you have been carrying your loss in silence wondering if what you are feeling is normal, wondering if it will ever get better I need you to know that it will. And you do not have to figure it out alone.

👇 Drop a 🤍 in the comments if grief has ever changed the direction of your life.

This past Sunday, I had the honor of hosting “Mothers on Purpose: Blooming Above the Balance” mixer. 🌸

This one was special. This event was for a group of moms who had lost children to gun violence and we got to honor them, hold space for them, and simply be present with them. We also had community partners in the room who appreciate this work, support this work, and are committed to providing real resources.

As a certified grief coach and grief specialist, I have the privilege of walking people through all types of loss. With June being Gun Violence Awareness Month, I couldn’t think of a more meaningful way to close out the month than honoring these mothers. Every one of them carrying a grief that is sudden, often public, and rarely given the space it deserves to be processed.

It was extremely beautiful, and I’m always humble for any opportunity to serve.

Did you know that June is Gun Violence Awareness Month?

Every year, thousands of families across this country including right here in Washington, DC are forever changed by gun violence. Mothers are burying their children. Families are left grieving, often alone, with nowhere to turn.

That’s exactly why Mothers on Purpose exists.

This June, we’re showing up raising awareness, honoring lives lost, and standing alongside every mother who is still carrying this pain.

Follow us this month as we share stories, stats, resources, and ways you can stand with our community.

🧡 Wear orange. Say their names.

Share this post. Because awareness is the first step toward change. đź’ś
