We’re back at it tomorrow!

Chapel starts at 9:00am ✨

Doors open at 8:50a and then devotional, prayer journal/doodling, and praise & worship to start the day.

9:30 — classes begin for all groups.

Elementary & Tween families: just a bag is needed. Lunch from home is optional (we have metal cups for everyone).

Classes wrap at 2:15. Pickup runs until 2:30.

At 2:35 your child will be enrolled in aftercare ($99/month).

We are so excited for a new year together of learning. Can’t wait to see you. 💛

Play!!
It’s not something to do “instead” of learning, it’s the engine of it.
Kids don’t just “play.”
They build brains.
They practice executive function.
They wire up collaboration and confidence and those exact skills that last longer than any worksheet.
Research keeps proving it:
Children in play-based programs often outperform their peers in reading, math, and social skills years later. Early academic drills? Those gains tend to fade. Play’s advantages stick.
Guided play. Free play. Messy, joyful, child-led exploration.
All of it teaches harder and deeper than sitting still and “being taught.”
The science is clear.
And the kids already knew!!
We’ve just been slow to listen.
Protect play!
Defend recess!
Choose joy over worksheets when it matters.
Because when children play, they are not taking a break from learning.
They are learning!

🚨 THE WAIT IS OVER. 🚨

Monday, 8/24, our halls are officially coming back to LIFE. It feels simultaneously like it’s been forever and somehow like summer just started. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE 🤣

And if you could see our staff right now… we are basically kids on Christmas morning.

The classrooms are just about ready. The plans are ready. The learning guides are READY.

But more than anything, we are READY FOR OUR STUDENTS.

We’ve missed the laughter, the questions, the chaos, the creativity, the “look what I made” out of lego moments + all the little personalities that make Freedom Friends feel like HOME.

Monday, August 24th.

I wondered how I’d meet the community’s need for a teen homeschooling community.

How would I, a barely-a-mom-of-a-teen, learn enough about adolescent psychology?

How would I build a curriculum plan?

How would I become the kind of teacher teens actually WANT to learn from?

TBH, It almost stopped me.

Because sometimes the scariest part of creating something new is realizing you don’t have all the answers yet.

But then I decided:

I can do it scared.

I can learn alongside them.

I can build something imperfect and make it better as we go.

And now, it’ll be our very first year, and we have an exploding, completely full-to-the-brim Teen Learning Lounge! It’s filled with some of the coolest, funniest, most interesting teens I’ve ever met.

I keep thinking about how easily I could have talked myself out of it.

I could have waited until I felt qualified enough.

Prepared enough.

Experienced enough.

But I would have missed an opportunity to create something so needed.

So here’s your reminder:

You do not have to be an expert to start.

You just have to be willing to learn.

Sometimes the thing you’re terrified you’re not ready for becomes the thing you were meant to build.

I’m so glad I did - I made HIGH KEY good choices bruh, I’m doing it scared. ❤️
