🎗️💛 NEWMAN TOROS GO GOLD FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS! 💛🎗️

This September, our Newman Elementary family proudly joins United ISD and Smiles from Heaven in standing together for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

From September 14–18, our Toros are invited to participate in a special week of dress-up days as we show our love and support for the courageous children and families whose lives have been touched by childhood cancer. 🎗️

Every jersey, cowboy hat, cap, throwback outfit, and piece of GOLD we wear carries a message:

💛 You are seen.
💛 You are supported.
💛 You are not fighting alone.

🌟 And Newman is taking it one step further! Throughout the entire month of September, every Friday is YELLOW/GOLD DAY! 💛 Students and staff are encouraged to wear yellow or gold every Friday as a visible reminder of our continued support for Childhood Cancer Awareness.

Let’s fill Newman with HOPE, COURAGE, LOVE, and GOLD all month long! ✨

🏈🧡💙 WAY TO START THE SEASON, TOROS! 💙🧡🏈

Our Newman Elementary 1st Grade Flag Football Team, led by Coach De Leon, kicked off their season tonight—and they came ready to PLAY! 🔥🐂

FIRST GAME. FIRST WIN. TORO PRIDE! 🏆

We are incredibly proud of our young athletes for representing Newman with teamwork, determination, effort, and heart. This is only the beginning, Toros! Keep working hard, supporting one another, and giving it your ALL every time you step onto that field.

A special thank you to Coach De Leon for investing his time, energy, and encouragement into our students. 🧡

🏊‍♀️Swimming classes were a huge success for our 2nd graders!!

For 2 weeks they participated in the fundamentals of Swimming Program offered by UISD and they earned a certificate of completion 👏🏻

During that time, students learned about water safety, basic life saving skills, how to float, hold their breath, freestyle swimming and so much more, both in and out of the water 🤗

We hope that these basic skills serve as a foundation for future water safety and learning! We are Newman proud 💛🧡💙

☀️🧡 COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS MAKE A DIFFERENCE! 🧡☀️

Newman Elementary is feeling incredibly grateful and blessed! A HUGE THANK YOU to Emergency Room for their generous donation of umbrellas for our staff. And they arrived just in time—they were immediately put to use during dismissal! ☀️☂️❤️

These umbrellas are more than just shade from the Laredo sun. They are a reminder of what can happen when schools and community partners come together to support the people who care for our children each and every day.

At Newman, we are working toward a campus filled with positivity, smiles, appreciation, and a true sense of community among our students, teachers, staff, families, and community partners. 🤝🧡💙

Thank you, Laredo Emergency Room, for answering our call with such incredible generosity and for being so willing to collaborate with our Newman family. Your kindness was felt across our campus today, and those smiles say it all! 😊☂️

We had a great turn out yesterday! Thank you so much to all the parents, guardians, and family members who joined us at our Annual Title I Meeting and Parent Orientation Night. 🤗

At Newman Elementary, we know that true student success happens when school and home work together. We are one team, with one shared goal: to make the 2026–27 school year our best one yet! ✨
