The Office of Global and Community Engagement was pleased to welcome the first visit of leadership from TecMilenio University to campus: Abiu González Ixba, Víctor Alfonso Estrada Castillo, and Lina Gisela Farías Sánchez.
During their visit, they met with the Office of Recruitment, the Graduate School, and Dr. James O'Meara, Dean of Global and Community Engagement, to explore new collaboration opportunities at the undergraduate, graduate, and research levels.
As part of the visit, TecMilenio was also recognized as the second location in Nuevo Laredo to host a Little Free Library, receiving a plaque and a set of children’s books.
We look forward to strengthening this partnership and expanding opportunities for our students and community

The Office of Global & Community Engagement is proud to bring the first LaRedOS Academic WorldQuest 2026 to our binational community through the World Affairs Council-Laredo!
This inaugural binational competition brought together high schools and universities from Laredo and Nuevo Laredo for a dynamic trivia challenge focused on world affairs. It was inspiring to see students from both sides of the border come together, showcase their knowledge, and engage in meaningful global dialogue.

Final preparations are underway for our upcoming LaRedOS Academic WorldQuest 2026! 🌎🏆
What is Academic WorldQuest (AWQ)?
AWQ is a fast-paced, team-based global affairs competition where students showcase their knowledge of current international politics, geography, global economics, history, and world cultures.
This year, for our first regional AWQ, we’re especially excited to welcome delegations from both Laredo and Nuevo Laredo high schools and universities, making this a truly historic binational competition.

The Office of Global & Community Engagement was honored to welcome the Mexican Consul General in Laredo, Ambassador Juan Carlos Mendoza Sánchez, who presented to students in Dr. James O’Meara’s signature course, Global Learning through Local Engagement.
The session included a dynamic dialogue between the Ambassador and students, with SGA President Adalberto Gonzalez also present and actively participating in the conversation.
