💜💛 Grandparents Day at Leyendecker 💛💜

What a beautiful morning at J. Z. Leyendecker Elementary School!

Today, our halls were filled with extra smiles, warm hugs, laughter, and so much love as we welcomed our grandparents and special loved ones to campus for **Grandparents Day!** 🥰

Our guests had the opportunity to visit their Eagles’ classrooms, meet their teachers, share special moments, and capture memories together at our photo stations. 📸💕

Then we gathered in the gym for a very special celebration filled with pan dulce and the beautiful sounds of Mariachi Los Tigrillos de Oro! 🎶 What a wonderful way to honor the grandparents who play such an important role in our students' lives.

Thank you to Los Tigrillos de Oro for visiting J. Z. Leyendecker Elementary School today and performing for our grandparents. Many of our former students were up on the stage, making us proud!

To all of the grandparents and loved ones who joined us today—**thank you for spending your morning with us!** Your presence made this day extra special, and we hope you know just how much you are loved and appreciated. ❤️

A huge **thank you to our amazing Leyendecker staff, teachers, Courtesy Service Club students, and support staff** who helped welcome, guide, and care for our guests throughout the morning. Your teamwork helped make this celebration so special! 💜💛

And thank you to Mr. Ydrogo, who represented LISD and visited our campus this morning and gave the closing remarks.

This weeks teacher spotlight goes to 3rd grade reading teacher, Ms. de los Santos! As we walked past her class, we couldn’t help but notice all the engagement and enthusiasm in this classroom! Students were working together to analyze and explain authors purpose. Students were able to identify figurative language and find meaning in the details of the text. Way to go Eagles! 🦅 💜💛💜💛

Friday, September 11, 2026. Thank you so much to everyone who RSVP'd. Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. LISD enforces a CLEAR BAG policy. Please do not bring any food. Classroom visits and photo opportunities are from 9:00-9:30. Please join us after for a special performance from the Christen Middle School Mariachi "Los Tigrillos de Oro" and some refreshments in the gym. We are excited to celebrate with you tomorrow.

This week teacher spotlight is on the incredible Mrs. Casillas in Pre-K4! She was caught in circle time with her students as they enjoyed learning about feelings. She teaches Emotion Words: It gives children the specific words they need to talk about what is happening inside them. The students were engaged and participated in the pre-vocabulary lesson before she read the book “The Way I Feel”. Keep up the great work Mrs. Casillas and students! Shout out to Teacher Aide - Ms. Gallegos who was prepping the rotation centers for the students while they were engaged in the lesson. 📖 Great job 👏🏼 Eagles! 🦅💜💛

💜💛Teacher spotlight 💛💜 Ms. Rizzi’s 5th grade Science class was caught learning about density! Students enjoyed the lesson, asked questions, and anxiously participated. It’s amazing to witness the incredible things our teachers are doing with your children. 😀Thank you for trusting us with them. It’s no wonder 100% of her students passed the Science STAAR test! Way to go ms Rizzi and 5th grade.
