Congratulations to our United Middle School students who participated in the UIL Chess Tryouts for UMS! ♟️🤘

Clocks are set, the boards are prepped, and the battle for Laredo’s top young minds is officially ON! Join us for the September Youth Open, an exciting, kids-only tournament where young players can test their skills, have fun, and claim their place on the podium!

Choose Your Division:

Youth Advanced Division: High-level tactical battle for experienced scholastic players. Top 3 win championship trophies! 🏆

Youth Beginners Division: Perfect for your child’s very first tournament or casual young competitors. Top 3 win championship trophies! 🏆

⚠️ STRICT PLAYER CAP: Only 22 seats available total across both sections to ensure a focused, safe, and top-tier environment for all kids. Once they're gone, registration closes!

Friday Knight Blitz: Top Finishers! 🤘♟️

Huge shout-out to everyone who came through and brought the energy to our latest Friday Knight Blitz!

Every other Friday, we host this 1-hour arena so our students can hang out, have fun, and sharpen their instincts under fast tournament clocks. The games were fast, fun, and super competitive down to the final seconds.

A big congratulations to our top three finishers on the podium:

Congratulations to our Luis Sanchez, yesterday he participated in the Austin Grandmaster Chess Academy Scholastic Tournament! 🤘♟️

After fighting his way among students in middle school for 6 rounds he was able to bring home a 3rd place finish! What an incredible achievement for Luis, we can't wait to see what is in sight for him at just 8 years old. 😊

Huge congratulations to Chess Rock Education co-founder Cristian Bojorquez for defending and retaining his title at the Laredo Chess Championship this past weekend!

Cristian first captured the city crown back in 2022 at just 17 years old. Five years later, his dedication to the game and poise under pressure continue to set the standard for chess in our city.

When we work with our students at Chess Rock, our goal is to show them what true discipline and consistency look like. Having the reigning 5-time city champion leading by example every single week is something we’re incredibly proud of.

We grew up in this city with a deep love for chess, but nowhere to go and no one to show us the ropes. Chess Rock Education isn't just an academy. it’s the home we always wished existed for local kids who love to think, solve hard problems, and challenge themselves.

This Saturday, our Academy was filled with courageous and ambitious chess players! We welcomed new competitors into our Monthly tournament. ♟️🤘

At the end of the 4-hour competition, every student was able to showcase their critical thinking skills, create new friendships, and show respect over a mutual game of chess.
