The field of WGST analyzes the world around us in terms of gender, focusing on issues that are especially visible both in the popular media and in the university today. As part of the WGST minor, students dive deep into the Humanities and Social Sciences — areas such as English, History, Spanish, Sociology, Criminal Justice — and earn credits. If you like exploring big questions about gender, sexu

ality, and women’s roles in culture, history, literature, and society, consider declaring WGST as a minor. Today’s employers are placing greater emphasis on social justice awareness and qualifications from prospective employees. A WGST minor may help you enter an ongoing conversation about women and minorities in the workplace that may have relevance for your future career, whatever it may be. Register this Fall for WGST 2301, “Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies,” taught by Dr. Adam Kozaczka. Dr. Kozaczka is Assistant Professor of English within the Department of Humanities, and WGST Program Coordinator. WGST 2301 is an exploratory course required for the minor and is a WIN class designed to survey key topics in gender studies across a wide range of fields. You’ll study folklore, literature, popular culture, history, gender theory, and new media. WGST 2301 will help students on their way to graduation, even if they don’t end up joining the minor program.
