Region One ESC Laredo had the opportunity to partner with Rio Grande City Grulla ISD for an engaging day of learning!

Today’s Mathematics Achievement Academy helped educators take a deeper dive into Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS), exploring how they strengthen mathematical thinking through coherence, purposeful instruction, and meaningful discourse. Participants unpacked key mathematical concepts and procedures while examining the critical balance between conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and automaticity.

Through rich discussions and collaborative learning, educators reflected on how to move beyond teaching students what to do and instead build a deep understanding of why mathematics works—creating the foundation for confident, capable problem solvers.
