Earth Observation Day Event Shows Monitoring Natural Disasters with Satellite Images

Seventh graders in Laramie Middle School (LMS) learned the value of satellite images for monitoring natural disasters. Images acquired before- and after- the floods, wildfires, landslides, earthquakes, etc. from Landsat and other Earth observation satellites showed the extent of damages caused by disasters.

WyomingView participated in 1st WY STEM Carnival.

Elementary school students and parents assembled the giant floor puzzle during UW’s 1st STEM carnival held on Sept. 16, 2022. Students and parents explored Wyoming towns, reservoirs, and prominent landmarks. This floor puzzle was made with images acquired by Landsat satellites. This year is the 50th year of the Landsat program.
