Exploring the Future of Supercomputing!

Earlier this week, representatives from the University of Wyoming and NVIDIA toured the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center (NWSC) to explore its capabilities and learn more about the facility’s role in advancing high-performance computing and research.

The visit sparked conversations about the future of supercomputing and opportunities for collaboration between UW, NVIDIA, and the broader research community. Together, we’re exploring how Wyoming can help drive the next generation of AI, HPC, and scientific discovery.

The Mountain West AI & HPC Summit brought together researchers, industry leaders, students, and innovators to explore what’s possible when we combine powerful technology with big ideas.

From inspiring conversations and hands-on learning to new connections and exciting possibilities, this summit was all about building the future of AI and HPC across the Mountain West.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make these three days a success — including our partners at NVIDIA and the NSF Ascend Engine.

We’re leaving inspired, connected, and ready to put these ideas to work.

Day 2 of the UW Mountain West AI & HPC Summit is in the books!

Another incredible day of learning, collaboration, and innovation brought together:

🔹 100+ participants continuing the conversation around AI & high-performance computing

🔹 28 lightning talks highlighting exciting research, ideas, and applications in AI & HPC

🔹 Lunch and Keynote Address: An introduction by Chris Malachowsky, NVIDIA Co-Founder, “Transforming Education through Digital Assets (Data, Compute, AI) in the Classroom” by Frank Würthwein, Director of the San Diego Supercomputer Center

Day 2 was packed with thought-provoking discussions, new connections, and ideas about how AI, data and computing can transform research and education.

One more day to go! We’re excited to see how the conversation continues on Day 3.
