We’re getting excited for Cowboy Kickoff on Friday, September 11 on Frat Mall. The festivities, which begin at 5:30 pm, will include your favorite Laramie food trucks, a Chancy Williams concert, and a 3D drone show.

Like most of the buildings surrounding Frat Mall, the College of Law will be locked at 3:30 on Friday afternoon. Law students, faculty, and staff will still be still be able to access the building with their ID cards, but we have a feeling that the law library will not be the best place to study on Friday night. So get your studying done early and join us at the concert!

The American Inns of Court has selected Judge Alan B. Johnson to receive the prestigious 2026 American Inns of Court Professionalism Award for the Tenth Circuit.

Judge Johnson’s storied career includes more than 40 years as an active U.S. district court judge for the District of Wyoming. But his long and impressive resume does not adequately communicate his character and professionalism. Judge Johnson is someone with a deep love and respect for the rule of law.

We are proud to say that Judge Johnson’s legal journey began at the College of Law. Congratulations Judge!

May it please the court?

Eighteen third-year law students spent two very long weeks learning trial skills as part of the Summer Trial Institute. Led by former Dean Steve Easton, more than fifty attorneys and court reporters volunteered their time and expertise to ensure that students experienced what it is like to prepare and try a case before a jury.

At the conclusion of the mock trials, Shoshana Sangros was awarded the Terry W. Mackey scholarship recognizing her exceptional performance. The scholarship honors the late trial attorney Terry Mackey, a prominent Cheyenne attorney and founder and supporter of the Institute. Terry’s wife Cathy and daughters Shawna and Kristin joined us for the scholarship award. Congratulations Shoshana!

We are grateful to Steve and Marivern Easton, the many volunteers, the Mackey family, and all of the donors who make this unique experience possible.
