Hello lovers of all wild things!

I hope you all had a lovely thanksgiving break and are ready to hit finals out of the park! The time has come for the final meeting of the chapter for the semester, and this time I will be closing out this semester, giving updates on what fun things we have coming up for the spring, asking you what sort of things you want to see from us, elections and trivia. For elections, we have our treasurer position opening up, so if you are good with money, funds and taxes please give it some thought. This has been an amazing semester, I’m so glad you all joined us for it and I can’t wait to see you all Thursday and next semester!

Hello my fellow lovers of all things wild!

The time has come again for the biweekly meeting of your favorite club! This week we are excited to have Ashley Leonard and Parker Everhart from the WGFD to discuss interviews, cover letters, and other advice on how to get a job in this field! Interviews can be scary, cover letters can be complicated, and getting a job seems like a far away task, but Ashley and Parker are here to help you develop those much-needed skills. Soon we are all going to graduate college (I promise) and we’re going to need these skills, so come and learn them from some of the best! As always, pizza will be provided!

Hello wildlifers one and all!

The time has come, the stage is set, and we are ecstatic to announce this year’s Beast feast will be this Saturday! What is Beast feast you man ask? Fantastic question! Beast feast is out annual potluck where we gather and eat some delicious wild game dishes, network with wildlife professionals in Laramie and some from beyond and partake in raffles and silent auctions. It is a fantastic place to meet potential employers, chat and hang out with friends in the field, and, if you’ve never had wild game meat, try something new!
When is Beast feast you ask? Another great question! The event will be held this Saturday, Nov 16, the doors will open at 6PM, and we’ll kick you out at 9PM. You don’t need to stay the entire time, but at the end of it we will announce the winners of the raffle and auction items, so I’d recommend staying for that!
Where is Beast feast you ask? You have some excellent questions! It will be held at the Phoenix Ballroom of the Laramie Civic Center (710 E Garfield St), which is accessible from the northwest corner of the building (the one on Garfield and 7th), where there is a stairway that will take you to the second level where the ballroom is located.
What do I need to attend? The cost of entry is $12, and raffle ticket prices will be posted at the event if you wish to buy some. If you bring a side dish or dessert, you will still need to pay the entry fee, however you will get 10 raffle tickets on the house. You are by no means obligated to bring anything, but if you have a dish that you think would be nice as a side to pronghorn chili, please feel free to bring it!

Hello my fellow lovers of all things wild!

The time has come, and we are excited to bring this week’s meeting to you! We’re going to be doing something a little different; Rhiannon Jakopak is coming in to lead a discussion on the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation! This will be a more active participation sort of meeting, where everyone will learn about the model and have a voice to discuss it. Rhiannon is one of the brightest scientists I have had the honor of learning from, and to have her come in and talk about something that is pretty unique to North American conservation is something that I am super stoked for, and I hope you are too! If the Model is something entirely foreign to you, fantastic! You will have the perfect opportunity to learn and give your opinions on it. If you are an expert on the Model, fantastic! You’ll get some fresh new insights and hopefully have a new perspective on it. I can’t wait to see you there!

Hello my fellow lovers of wildlife!

The time has come for your biweekly rendition of the Wildlife Society. This week we are honored to host Brie Hashem! Brie is a research biologist with WGFD, and she will be coming to talk about her research on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). CWD is one of (if not the) biggest management issues we face in Wyoming today, and the work Brie and her team do are invaluable to helping understand and control this disease. If you want to learn more about how research is done in this field, want to learn more about CWD, or don’t know a whole lot about either but want to learn, please come and attend this meeting. As always, there will be pizza, so if that entices you as well there is that. I hope to see you there!

Hello my fellow wildlifers!

We’re coming at you live from UW for another meeting! This week, we will be hosting Travis March, a Wildlife Conservation Officer from South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks to talk to us about wildlife law enforcement, and South Dakota GFD and the opportunities they have. Travis is also an alum from not only UW, but also The Wildlife Society, so if you have any questions about getting through college, The Wildlife Society, and into a career, this will be the time and place to ask them! As always, pizza will be there, and I hope you will be too!

Hello to all my fellow wildlife lovers!

I hope you all are having a good start to the school semester! The time has come again for your weekly installation of TWS, and this week will be a presentation of the Wyoming Wildlife Fellowship! The Fellowship is the next step above TWS for wildlife management professionals, aimed at teaching science and instilling practices for us to become even more competitive applicants. However, the Fellowship is open to people that have 2 years left of school at least, so people that are about to graduate might not get a lot out of this meeting, but there are resources that the Fellowship provides that upperclassmen might like to know about.

The time has come, we are having our first meeting of the semester! This week’s meeting will see the introduction of the club as a whole, the fun events we’ve got coming up, an intro to the officers who will be running the show, and if that doesn’t entice you, we will have a wildlife trivia Kahoot, and, as usual, we will have pizza! So please come on down to room 309 in the Biological Sciences building this Thursday at 6 PM! We hope to see you there!

Hello all my wildlifers!
The time has come once again for the biweekly meeting! However, seeing as this week is the last week of classes, I wanted to do something a little different. This meeting will just be a wrap-up of this semester, without a presenter, and just as an end-of-semester last hurrah. It’ll be really brief, I doubt it’ll go the whole hour so if that’s been a gripe of yours about our meeting length, you have no excuse (unless you’re busy studying for finals, in which case I understand). We’ll go over some things we will do in the fall semester, and we’ll have a little info session from y’all about what you want to see next semester. And as another enticement, we’ll have trivia! An animal nerd’s favorite pastime, geeking out about cool animal facts you know. But wait, there’s more! this time, we’ll have some prizes! (Please don’t get your hopes up about an all-expense-paid trip to Alaska, I’m a college student too and can’t afford nice things) So, once again, please come, enjoy some pizza, give me a piece of your mind, and enjoy some anima trivia! I hope to see you there!
