S*X & THE BIBLE

"Many of our sexual mores come from the Bible: do this (monogamy, reproduce), don’t do that (ma********on, homosexuality). But why does the Bible say what it does about sexual behavior?

If there is no reason for God to have made the decrees found in the Bible, then God is an arbitrary being rather than a wise being and this is in direct contradiction to the traditional understanding of God as an all-knowing and wise being.

If there is a reason God made that decree, then one can explore what that reason might have been, to see if the reasons for the decree might be understood.

I will discuss the opinions of prominent scholars, as well as my own views, as to why the Bible says what it does about sexuality."
