💡Did you know we recently had a group of Army Veterinarians spent a week at LREC learning all things animal agriculture?? How cool!

Throughout the week, they spent time developing their skills, from working cattle to giving equine vaccines, learning all things meat processing and more!

🤠 Please join us in welcoming Dr. John Derek Scasta as interim director of the University of Wyoming Extension.

Dr. Scasta officially stepped into the role on April 27, following his service as director of the Laramie Research & Extension Center and more than a decade as UW Extension’s rangeland management specialist. He brings deep experience working directly with Wyoming agricultural producers, county educators, and communities across the state.

“Extension is fundamentally about people, relationships, communities, and extending the resources of UW to all corners of the state to help solve problems and enhance quality of life. I’m humbled by the opportunity to serve in this role and support the incredible work our educators and staff do every day for Wyoming people,” Scasta said.

His leadership reflects what Extension is all about—local knowledge, dependable service, and helping Wyoming communities thrive.

The fourth annual University of Wyoming High Altitude Bull Test and sale was on Saturday 3/28. We sold 34 bulls for an average price of $6,044.

Not a sight you see everyday at LREC!
We were fortunate enough to work with a dairy in Colorado to obtain some cows to be used for ANSC 4130. ANSC 4130 is a hands on reproduction course for students wanting to increase their knowledge and skills of reproduction within livestock management systems.
The blue paint on their heads helped the dairy know which cows were being shipped to Laramie! 🐄
