For the reader who is passionate about current and international affairs, we are excited to welcome author and professor, Jean Garrison, PhD. We have included some highlights from her extraordinary career.
Jean Garrison is a professor of political science and international studies at the University of Wyoming and co-director of the Malcolm Wallop Civic Engagement Program. She specializes in American foreign relations, U.S.-China relations, energy security, and civic engagement. Jean is the author of three books: Games Advisors Play: Foreign Policy in the Nixon and Carter Administrations, The Making of U.S.-China Policy: Nixon to G.W. Bush, and China and the Energy Equation in Asia. Her recent scholarship includes a forthcoming co-edited book, Polarization and Deep Contestations of the Liberal Script in the United States (Oxford University Press, 2024). Jean has also written numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on American foreign policy. Her administrative roles have included founding director of the Office of Engagement and Outreach and senior fellow at Freie Universität Berlin. She holds a PhD and MA from the University of South Carolina and a BA from the University of Wyoming.
