Our Pathways to Success students had an amazing hands-on learning experience this week with support from Julie Breslon from LCSC TRIO program! 📚

Students explored the KiwiCo Civil Engineer Starter Kit, diving into STEM + Art (STEAM) through creative, hands-on activities. They built bridges and towers, tested earthquake-resistant structures, and learned how engineering connects to real-world problem solving.

Experiences like this spark curiosity, foster creativity, and help students build confidence in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. 🔧📐

✨ Shoutout to Harry Slickpoo Jr.! ✨

Last week, our middle school and high school students had the incredible opportunity to learn from Harry Slickpoo Jr., who visited classrooms to share traditional Nez Perce storytelling and legends.

His stories brought culture, history, and teachings to life in such a meaningful way. We’re grateful for the knowledge, inspiration, and connection he shared with our students.

Thank you, Harry, for keeping these stories alive and passing them on to the next generation!

We are proud to celebrate Lapwai Class of 2025 graduate Garrett Baumbaugh on his graduation from the United States Marine Corps! Garrett’s discipline, determination, and leadership were already evident during his time at Lapwai High School, where he trained with focus and purpose. He was always pushing himself and those around him to do their best.

His dedication has now carried him through one of the most challenging and honorable training experiences in the country. We thank him for his service and wish him the very best as he takes on his next assignment and begins his career as a United States Marine.

Quillwork Bracelet Workshop with Lydia Skahan!

Students learned traditional techniques, worked hard, and crafted beautiful pieces with awesome creativity. We are so proud of their craftsmanship!

A huge thank you to Native artist Lydia Skahan for sharing her cultural knowledge and guiding our students and staff through this meaningful experience.

Ribbon Shirt Making Workshop Student Sign-Ups Open!

Students, don’t miss out! We’ll be hosting a Ribbon Shirt Making Workshop on November 24–25 from 4 PM to 7 PM in the LHS Commons.

On Thursday, November 20, Harry Slickpoo Jr. will be visiting to share Nez Perce storytelling and legends with our middle school and high school students. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the rich culture, traditions, and stories of the Nez Perce people.

On Wednesday, November 12, students at Lapwai School will have the opportunity to experience Native Vision, a live performance by Navajo artist Lori Tapahonso.

High School: 9:00 AM

Middle School: 10:00 AM

Location: Lapwai School Auditorium

Native Vision explores Native resilience, identity, and service through live performance and archival media. Students will learn about the history of Native American boarding schools and the contributions of Code Talkers during WWII — all told through the perspective of a Navajo woman.

This is an important educational experience for our students, highlighting Native history and culture.
