5 reasons to let your kids play in the mud:

•𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀.
Actions like using a shovel, playing with kitchen utensils to make mud pies, scooping and digging all help develop hand-eye coordination and other fine motor skills.

•𝙄𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙣 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.
According to recent science, soil naturally contains Mycobaterium vaccae, a friendly bacterium that increases serotonin production. So, not only is it just fun to play in, mud literally makes you happy!

•𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺.
Thanks to various friendly bacteria found in soil, like Mycobacterium vaccae, soil stimulates the immune system.

Exposing your child to dirt and mud can help their immune systems develop and learn to battle invading organisms.

Spending time in nature can help increase cognitive skills. It's also linked to decreased stress levels and that same release of serotonin caused by Mycobacterium vaccae, has been shown to increase cognitive function.

Free admission! This just in: the regular admission for our Civil War Train Raids event is being waived!

The regular admission of $5.00 for guests over 13 years old will not be in effect this weekend. So families can step back in time and tour camps and our museum campus free of charge.

June 27 & 28 Noon to 5:00 central last train 4:45. Train ride ticket fares:
Civil War Train Raids ride: $11 over 13 $7 up to 13.

You are Caught in the Crossfire!
Explore the North and South encampments on the museum campus. Board the Hesston & Galena Creek Narrow Gauge Railroad as your train transports troops and Union Army gold through hostile territory.

Both miniature railways are regular fares: ($9 passengers over 13 $5 for 13 and under.)

As always under 3 is free on any train. Infants under 1 years nor expected mothers are not allowed to ride our smallest (7.5” Gauge Railroad)
