Our new Countdown to Launch Night flyer is here with ALL the important details you need to know! Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 27th because you definitely won’t want to miss out on any of the fun!

Doors open at 5:00 PM, and from there we’ll LAUNCH into an evening filled with our Adkins Spirit Wear Fashion Show, a quick PTA Meeting, Domino’s dinner, and our Classroom Showcase! 🍕⭐️

✈️💚 AVIATORS…WE’RE COUNTING DOWN TO LAUNCH! 💙✈️

For the first 10 days of school, every Adkins Aviator will take part in our Countdown to Launch—a campus-wide learning experience designed to build Aviator pride, creativity, collaboration, and deep thinking! Each day brings us one step closer to LAUNCH! 🚀✈️

Throughout these 10 days, students will learn more about who we are as Adkins Aviators—including the story of our namesake, Dorothy P. Adkins, and what it really means to Learn. Connect. Serve. Along the way, each grade level will be challenged with an aviation-themed problem to investigate, create, design, rethink, and solve together. ✈️🧠

And on Day 10…it’s time to LAUNCH and show it all off!

🎉 Join us for our PTA Meeting & Countdown to LAUNCH Night! 🎉

We’ll kick off the evening at 5:15 PM with our Adkins Spirit Wear Fashion Show, followed by a quick PTA meeting and pre-ordered dinner. Then, from 6:00–7:00 PM, our classroom doors will open and your Aviators become the experts! Come see their projects, hear about their thinking, and let them show you what they have learned and created.

✈️ Adkins Aviators: Let’s Talk Dismissal! 💙
As we prepare for takeoff, we want our Adkins families to feel confident and prepared for afternoon dismissal! Mrs. Adams has put together a helpful video walking through the important logistics you need to know to make dismissal safe, smooth, and efficient for everyone.

We’re getting closer to takeoff, and we want every Adkins family to feel confident and prepared for morning arrival! Mrs. Adams has put together a helpful video walking families through everything you need to know about arrival procedures.

✈️ Meet More of the Crew Helping Our Aviators Soar! 💙

A great school year takes an entire crew, and we are so excited to introduce two more members of the Adkins team! From supporting students in RISE to inspiring a love of reading and writing in third grade, these educators are ready to make a difference from day one.

💙 Donnamonic Soria – RISE Paraprofessional
Donnamonic is beginning her first year in education as a RISE paraprofessional at Adkins! She is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education through Western Governors University. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children, exploring new places, and making memories together. She is excited to build relationships with our students and be a positive part of the Adkins community!

💙 Alexis Barnfield – 3rd Grade Reading & Writing
Alexis is beginning her seventh year in education and is excited to join Adkins as a 3rd Grade Reading and Writing teacher! A UNT graduate and proud mom of two, she loves music, listening to books on Audible, family time, and going to the movies. She can't wait to meet our students and launch into an exciting year of reading, learning, and growth!

We're thrilled to have Donnamonic and Alexis joining our Adkins Aviator crew! Please help us give them a big Adkins welcome as they begin this new adventure with us. ✈️💙

✈️ Welcome Aboard, Our Newest Flight Instructors! 💙

At Adkins Elementary, we know that every member of our team plays an important role in helping our students soar. This year, we are excited to welcome three new members to our ECSE crew, each bringing unique experiences, talents, and a heart for supporting our youngest Aviators!

💙 Colleen Baranowski – ECSE Teacher
Colleen brings nine years of experience in special education and a Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Child Development from Dallas Baptist University. She is passionate about serving every student and creating a positive, loving learning environment where all children feel supported, valued, and ready to grow. As a proud mom of four and grandmother of two, she is excited to build relationships and help our Aviators soar!

💙 Anna Martin – ECSE Paraprofessional
Anna joins Adkins with a wealth of experience working with children, including time in elementary education, preschool, and homeschooling her own children. She is passionate about creating meaningful connections and helping children grow. Outside of school, Anna enjoys reading with her kids, taking walks, dancing, and singing with her family. She is thrilled to be part of the Adkins family!

💙 Chandana Alla – ECSE Paraprofessional
Chandana is a former Adkins parent and proud mom of two with a lifelong passion for child development. She loves helping young minds grow and has a deep appreciation for the curiosity and potential of every child. Chandana is excited to combine her parental empathy and classroom experience to create a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment for our youngest Aviators.

✈️ Welcome Aboard, Our Newest Flight Instructors! 💙

At Adkins Elementary, we know that every member of our team helps our students soar. This year, we're excited to welcome several new staff members who each bring unique talents, experiences, and a heart for serving others. Their contributions will strengthen our school community, and we can't wait to watch them take flight alongside our Aviators!

Today, we're introducing two of the newest faces you'll see in our front office:

💙 Courtney Arroyo – Assistant Principal
Mrs. Arroyo joins Adkins with a passion for elementary education, building meaningful relationships, and creating a school where every student, family, and staff member feels a true sense of belonging. With degrees from TCU, Spalding University, and UNT, she brings a wealth of experience and a lifelong love of learning. She is excited to partner with families, support our incredible teachers, and help every Aviator grow academically and personally.

💙 Austin Schubert – Receptionist
Mr. Schubert is the friendly face ready to welcome everyone who walks through our doors! A UNT graduate with a background in communications and customer service, he is passionate about building connections and serving others. Whether he's greeting visitors, helping families, or supporting our staff, Austin is excited to make every interaction a positive one and become a familiar, welcoming presence in the Adkins community.
