Morning meeting in Senior Explorers!
At North Star Academy we start every day with our safe keeping box ritual.
The children put their name or picture in our “ safe keeping box” and say with their teacher, “ I am SAFE & LOVED”
This reaffirms their place of belonging in their school family.
Such a warm and comforting way to start a day of learning, playing, and growing.

🐸 All About Me Week at North Star Academy! 🖐️💛

This week our little ones dove into our Frog Street "All About Me" theme — exploring who they are, what makes them special, and celebrating everything unique about themselves!

Max the Frog made some special friends along the way (he's basically part of the class at this point 🐸💚), and our kiddos got their hands dirty — literally! — creating adorable handprint art with Ms. Shelby. Every little handprint is one-of-a-kind, just like the amazing kids who made them!

We love watching our friends discover just how special they truly are. 🌟

✏️ Kindergarten Readiness Series — Day 5: Fine Motor Skills
Fine motor skills are the small-muscle skills that allow children to hold a pencil, use scissors, button a shirt, and open their own lunch box. They matter more than most parents realize — and they take TIME to develop.
What to encourage at ages 3–5:

🖍️ Drawing, coloring, and painting regularly

🖍️ Practicing with child-safe scissors

🖍️ Playing with playdough, beads, and building blocks

🖍️ Practicing self-dressing — zippers, buttons, velcro

🖍️ Eating with utensils independently
Fine motor skills aren't glamorous — but a child who can't hold a pencil comfortably will struggle to focus on learning in kindergarten. The good news? These skills build naturally through the kind of hands-on, creative play that great PreK programs prioritize every day. 💛
