Welcome - Carlos Granados - Flint, MI.

Carlos is left back/ centerback from Kearsley High School in Flint where he earned all Metro honors. He will help solidify our back line and we look forward to welcoming him to campus next week!

Of his commitment he had this to say: “I’m so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get to work with the team. I’m thankful for everyone who’s supported me up to this point!”.

Welcome

Owen Gammons- Big Rapids High School- Jackson College

Owen is a transfer from Jackson college where he played striker and goalkeeper. A high school standout on the field at Big Rapids High School where he netted 15 goals and 1 assist on his way to all conference and all district honors.

Coach Bayn noted, “I’m excited to add Owen to the team. He has incredible size and athleticism and can be used in multiple positions. Beyond that, he’s an incredible young man who will add a lot of life experience and value to the program!”

Owen had this to say of his commitment: “I’m excited to announce my commitment to Great Lakes Christian College! Thank you to my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for all of your support throughout this journey. I’m grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get to work. Go Crusaders!”

Antonio Romero- Flint, Michigan

Antonio is an incoming sophomore transfer from Spring Arbor University who plans to study Business. He played his club ball with Nationals soccer club.

Coach Bayn noted, “I’m excited to add Antonio to the squad, he comes from a high level training environment and gained valuable experience his freshman year. He will fit in our system as a wingback or forward, and I’d expect him to make an immediate impact.”

Antonio had this to say of his commitment: “I’m excited to be joining the team and can’t wait to get to work. I’m thankful for the opportunity and everyone who supported me through the process.”

Friday Focus 🔎

Freshman from Gaithersburg, MD — made an immediate impact scoring in his debut game and earning a starting role. A dynamic midfielder with a forward-thinking, attacking mindset, he quickly became a presence in the middle of the park.

Reflecting on his freshman year, he shared:
“This past season taught me a lot about the college game and what it takes to compete at this level. I learned where I need to improve both on and off the field, and I’m focused on building from that experience. I’m confident in the direction of this team moving forward, even with seniors moving on, and I’m excited about the young core we have coming in. My personal goal is to improve and have a better season than last year. As a team, we’re aiming to win the regional tournament and make it to nationals. I want to set a strong example for the younger guys and continue growing as a player and a leader.”

Luis will be a big factor for our team next season, and we can’t wait to see his continued improvement heading into preseason.

Francisco Mora - Freshman

Francisco brought a lot of technical ability, field vision, and extreme close quarters ball control to escape tight spaces to the squad this past season. We look forward to seeing what he does this upcoming season.

Speaking on this upcoming season he had the following to say: “ next season I want us to make a statement, having the National tournament as one of our goals. Through God’s strength I’m committed to helping the team become something greater than what it already is. We have what we need to reach our goals and I’m confident that we’ll deliver. Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, one person sharpens another”.

Joshua Mead- Freshman

Josh is a valuable defensive utility player from Lansing Christian schools who played center back, outside back, wingback, and holding mid for our last season.

His defensive stamina and desire were unmatched. He’s been working hard this offseason in futsal sessions and off the field he leads by example which is why we’re looking forward to big things from him.

He had this to say about next season: “Going into this second year of college soccer, I now understand the mental and physical challenges of the sport at this level and I’m ready to prove my consistency and go for some trophies this upcoming year, I am also very excited for the team next year as it looks very promising with a bunch of talent!”

Coach Bayn added: “Lukas is a player that has been on my radar for about 4 years now from when I was at Jackson College. He’s taken a year away from the game after graduating which has renewed his hunger for the game. He’s a capable centerback, and good enough with his feet to fill in elsewhere. He will make an immediate impact and I’m really excited to work with him!”
