Mary High School was closed and Monsignor John W. O'Rafferty High School was opened in Delta Township. At the same time, Resurrection High School was closed and Monsignor John H. Gabriels High School was opened at the corner of W. Saginaw and Marshall St. Due to financial struggles, the two schools were consolidated in 1970 on the Gabriels campus and the school was renamed Lansing Catholic Central High School. It was later again renamed Lansing Catholic High School. The O'Rafferty Campus was sold to Michigan National Bank and became its primary vault and partial headquarters. Saginaw Hwy, is still in operation as a call center for LaSalle Bank.

Weโ€™re piloting a new program and livestreaming this seasonโ€™s varsity football games. This is a great way for you to catch the action if you canโ€™t be at the game. You can see the livestream as well as the at link below. Join us for inaugural broadcast tonight at 7pm as we take on the Waverly Warriors. Fellow Alumni,
School started for us on Monday and at our opening school Mass, chaplain Fr. Joe Campbell revealed this yearโ€™s spiritual theme, "Love one another through the spirit of God that is in you." (1 John 4:12-13). Tough times may cause us to forget that we are not only made in Godโ€™s image but weโ€™ve also been given His Spirit in baptism. These times also call us to lean into that promise with hope. As a Cougar Nation, all of us are called to be intentional in seeking the good of others; building others up rather than tearing them down. As always, we can also use your prayers as we begin a new school year -- God is good!

In Memoriam: Kevin Houser
Susan Ellsworth (facebook.com/susan.ellsworth.5) let us know that her brother, Kevin Houser, passed away in June. Kevin didn't graduate from O'Rafferty but some O'Rafferty alums may remember him because he did attend Holy Cross and went to an OR reunion.
