The Office of Educator Excellence (OEE) fosters the educational achievement of all Michigan youth and adults, Pre-K through 12th grade, by assuring that all professional school personnel complete quality preparation and professional development programs which meet standards established by the Michigan Legislature, the State Board of Education, and the U.S. The OEE is comprised of the following 5 units:

⏳ Time is running out! The National Board First Time Candidate Grant (27m(7)) application window closes at 5:00 p.m. on August 28, 2026. Grant funds are available to cover the cost of National Board Certification fees for eligible teachers employed in schoolwide Title I buildings that meet eligibility requirements.

Nominate an outstanding classroom teacher and/or principal for the Michigan Department of Education Talent Pool! Nominees should demonstrate:

• Strong professional leadership potential;
• Exceptional educational talent as evidenced by effective instructional practices and student learning results in the classroom and school;
• Exemplary educational accomplishments beyond the classroom;
• Contributions to education that are largely unheralded, yet worthy of the spotlight; and
• An engaging and inspiring presence that motivates and impacts students, colleagues, and the community.

The grant application for Round 4 of 27m(7) grant is open. Teachers in schoolwide Title I buildings wishing to become Nationally Board Certified Teachers (NBCT) may be eligible for fees to be covered! The application will close at 5:00 p.m. on August 28, 2026. Districts must apply on behalf of eligible teachers, so don’t delay.
