Greater Lansing Aikido (GLA) started in the Fall of 2017, under the guidance of the internationally accredited Aikido organization: Aikido World Alliance (AWA). Hix, holds the rank of Nidan (2nd Black Belt) in Aikido through Hombu Dojo (International Aikido Headquarters) in Tokyo, Japan, and is a certified Instructor of Aikido through the AWA. GLA works jointly with the City of Lansing Parks and Recreation Department to spread the teachings of Aikido in a safe and fun environment.

Nintei Kosu 2026 and family. Nothing is better than reconnecting with friends you've known for years, decades, and even making new buddies. That's why Aikido is so dope. Man, this weekend was so cool, and we all had a *blast* throwing down at Kiku Matsu Dojo with the AWA crew. Love you guys so much!! Can't wait for next time!! This past year of 2025 brought so many beautiful memories to the Dojo. Connections made, friendships nourished, seminars travelled, time and dedication put in. Growth, both on and off the mat. The GLA Aikido crew and the AWA family are an unwavering familiarity based on respect, humility, generosity, and love. Welcoming Nakajima Keiko on the tatami during her tenure with the Japanese Center for Michigan Universities . Keiko normally trains with Okamoto Yoko Shihan at Aikido Kyoto, and her prefecture of Shiga, Japan is a sister-state to Michigan, US.
