Tuition proposal would give Michigan college students interest-free loans Democratic lawmakers are putting forward a plan to give in-state college students interest-free loans for college in exchange for a long-term repayment plan based on income.

I am happy to welcome Jason Morgan as our newest member of the SAMLF Board of Directors! Jason is a graduate of NMU, served as the SAM LRC chair and works as the Governmental Relations Director for Washtenaw Community College!

I woke up this morning and I remembered that it has been one year since our dear friend and colleague Felipe Andrez passed away after his fight with cancer.

It broke my heart to hear in early 2012 that Felipe, who was serving as President of the Student Government at The University of Michigan-Flint, had been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

On a personal note, Felipe was one of the first people to befriend me within the Student Association of Michigan and one of the first to suggest that I should run for President.

I am honored today to serve as the President of the Student Association of Michigan Legacy Foundation which preserves his Legacy through the Felipe Andrez Memorial, SAMLF's highest membership tier.

Gone too soon, but never forgotten, Felipe embodied the best parts of student leadership in this State and touched the lives of every person he came into contact with.

Now, and forever, a Michigan student
