We held our annual Convocation chapel last week, which marks the official start to the new academic year! Former GLCC President Larry Carter delivered an inspiring address to our students. Dr. Rick McQuistion and Tom and Ruth Ann Schantz were presented with Distinguished Alumni Awards. Our new students were presented with the GLCC Coin signifying our campus' shared commitment to the GLCC Way. Alumni and staff also encircled the students to pray over them and the upcoming school year.

We had a need and you responded in an incredibly generous way!

Our goal was to fund 165 sets of updated furniture for our dorm rooms to replace the old and outdated existing items.

We're ecstatic to report that your generosity meant all 165 sets were fully funded! You even gave above and beyond our goal, which meant that we were able to cover transportation costs and purchase additional items from the college that has closed, including common area furniture!

We are pleased to announce Thomas and Ruth Ann Schantz as the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients for Vocational Ministry. Tom and Ruth Ann met at GLCC and married about a month after both graduated in 1965. Throughout their lives they have ministered in churches, blessing countless individuals with their expressions of love. In a season where many would rest, Tom serves as the acting minister at Comstock Church of Christ, where Ruth Ann plays keyboard. They offer a free meal after every service and they host a Bible study in their home each week. Their sixty years of tireless faithfulness bring great distinction to Great Lakes Christian College and the Kingdom of God.

The Distinguished Alumni Award will be conveyed at GLCC's Convocation service on Wednesday, September 9 at 6:30 pm. The public is invited to attend.
