During this unprecedented time, educators are looking for creative ways to engage their students.

LATTICE (www.lattice-world.org), a learning community and international network that cultivates and supports global perspectives in K-12 classrooms, is providing a unique opportunity to hear from other inhabitants of our global village. For one hour on Thursday, April 2, at 10:00 am EST, LATTICE will have the chance to "check-in" with educators from around the world who will provide authentic information and stories about how their schools and communities are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The "Check-In" is open to educators and learners of all ages and in any location! Each of our global reporters' will check-in, and an open question and answer period will follow their individual reports. The "Check In" will use the powerful free teleconferencing platform Zoom. The Zoom meet URL is https://msu.zoom.us/j/876363212

Waverly Peace Jam students and advisers had a rare learning opportunity when they joined with MSU students to learn about the war in Yemen which the UN has deceived as the worst humanitarian crisis today. Professor Shireen Al-Al-Adeimi shared her insights and perspectives and our students were highly engaged and asked great questions. Students will meet Yemeni Nobel Peace Prize winner Twakkol Karman next month. Knowledge is Power!

Seven Waverly students who participated in a 10 week virtual exchange with students in Morocco and Egypt said their final goodbye today. New friends were made, tough and relevant global issues were examined and the world became a smaller and friendlier place as a result of the hard and diligent work. Many thanks to the optimistic and hard working students at Waverly, in Azrou and in Cairo. Waverly teachers met today with the program organizer at MSU today to explore opportunities to include more students.

Thank you to our African Fellows who braved the snow to meet our students and tour the school. The highlight of the day was a dialogue between the Fellows and the students in Mrs Sarafin’s Ethnic Studies students where they explored issues of prejudice and inequity.
