First Grade Pumpkin Patch Field Trip Update!

Lansing Elementary School first-grade families: We are still planning to visit the pumpkin patch tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14!

We are closely monitoring the weather and will notify families by 8:00 a.m. if conditions require us to cancel.

A few important reminders:

Dress for the weather: Please send your child in their field trip shirt, a jacket, and shoes and pants that can get muddy. Rain boots are encouraged if available! You may also want to pack a change of clothes and a plastic bag for dirty or damp clothing. Students who have not yet received their field trip shirts will receive them tomorrow.

Lunch: Students must bring a completely disposable lunch.

Arrival: Students must arrive at school no later than 8:30 a.m. to load the buses. Unfortunately, buses cannot wait for late arrivals.

Return: Students are expected to return to school around 1:00 p.m.

We are looking forward to a fun day at the pumpkin patch and appreciate your flexibility as we keep an eye on the weather!

Learning Together at Lansing Elementary School!

Kindergarten and second-grade students teamed up for a fun buddy activity that combined reading, problem-solving, and teamwork!

Mrs. Walker's kindergarteners partnered with Mrs. Dinwiddie's second graders to enjoy a read-aloud of After the Fall before putting their detective skills to work with a "Crack the Code" activity.

Working in pairs, students used a letter-number code to decode three mystery sentences. Once they cracked the codes, the second graders helped their kindergarten buddies practice reading the sentences using the letters and sounds they've learned so far.

What a great opportunity for our younger Lions to strengthen their reading skills while our older students practiced leadership, patience, and teamwork!

Get Ready, Lansing Elementary & Intermediate Families... Our Boosterthon Fun Run fundraiser is almost here!

We're excited to partner with Booster to raise $20,000 to support Lansing PTA programs, family engagement events, and staff support!

This year's theme is Global Kitchen Club, where students will explore global cultures while learning about patience, generosity, creativity, reliability, and adaptability.

- Kickoff: Wednesday, October 14

- Fun Run Event: Wednesday, October 21

- Fundraising Goal: $20,000

Families can get started by registering at www.mybooster.com and sharing their donation pages with family and friends.

Happy Instructional Coach Appreciation Day!

Today, we are excited to recognize Jenny Nickelson, Instructional Coach at Lansing Elementary School, and thank her for the incredible support she provides to our teachers and students each day.

Jenny is a trusted resource, collaborator, problem-solver, and cheerleader for our staff. Whether she is helping a teacher work through a challenge, sharing new ideas and strategies, or simply being there when someone needs support, Jenny approaches her work with kindness, patience, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Jenny as part of our Lansing USD469 team.

It was a small but sweet way to say thank you for their hard work, dedication, and all they do each day to serve our students and staff.

Thanks to local farmer Jacob Thomas who stopped by Mrs. Robinson's class to help them celebrate Apple Day. He helped to inform students on apples and then they were able to sample some of the delicious produce!
