Congratulations to an awesome Warrior and Spartan! 💛🖤💚🤍

Roberto “Marcos” Garcia, an MSU Honors College student double majoring in English and Sociology, received the nationally competitive Beinecke Scholarship. Garcia was one of only 16 recipients selected from 93 nominees nationwide and is only the sixth Michigan State University student to receive this prestigious award since the program launched in 1975.

The Beinecke Scholarship provides graduate school funding for third-year undergraduate students intending to pursue research-focused graduate study in the arts, humanities, or social sciences and is valued at $35,000.

The Class of 2026 completed the traditional tour of all district buildings to thank the teachers and staff who have supported, encouraged, and guided them throughout their educational journey.
Along the way, they also inspired our younger students to work hard, stay involved, and make the most of their school experience. Go Warriors!

Waverly High School recently hosted 23 pre-service teachers and scholars from China who are visiting Michigan State University. The visitors were eager to learn about education in the U.S. and experience our community firsthand. It was a fantastic opportunity for mutual learning, and we thoroughly enjoyed the exchange of ideas!

On Thursday, April 30th 7 students from the Eaton County/Waverly Jobs for Michigan's Graduates (JMG) program went to Saginaw Valley State University to compete in the 16th annual Career Development Conference (CDC). Two Waverly Seniors and one former Waverly student competed in the "JMG Bowl," a buzzer-style competition where they answered questions about career readiness and Michigan history against other high schoolers throughout the State of Michigan. Waverly's team was able to pass the first round of competition and make it to the final four! During the final four competition the students competed in front of the entire conference to see who would come out on top. While the Waverly team didn't take first, they were amazing at supporting fellow peers and networked with students throughout the state regarding career readiness and post-secondary aspirations. Additionally, former Waverly grad, Salomon Shabani, was awarded the "Exemplary Youth of the Year" for our JMG region!!

REGIONAL AWARD: JMG Exemplary Youth of the Year
This award honors one outstanding participant from each of Michigan’s Prosperity Regions. Selected from among the top Youth of the Year nominees, these individuals represent excellence in leadership, commitment, and achievement. Congratulations to our South Central Michigan Exemplary Youth of the Year:

Mario Kart 8 team traveled to Oakland University to compete in the semi-final and finals matches of the playoffs after having an undefeated regular season. Our roster included Jayden Murray, Lakari Jones, Gavin Vue, Ethan Rendina-Booker, and LaDanian Lewis who each contributed to our 2-0 semi-finals victory over Mason County Central and in winning our championship match in a 2-0 victory against Woodhaven! The team successfully defended their MHSEL state title that they won in the fall and have now been invited to the PlayVS Cup, a national-level tournament containing the top teams from leagues across the country.
