KEENE, N.H. -- Fall Mountain opened the season with a strong second place showing in today's four team match at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene.

All seven golfers scored in double digits for the Wildcats, who finished just five points behind Monadnock for the top spot.

Fall Mountain senior Perry Lent tied for first overall with Monadnock's Garrett Clark with 24 points (stableford scoring), and Fall Mountain freshman Miles Smith rounded out the medalists with 21 points.

Fall Mountain (2-1) heads to Prospect Mountain for its next match on September 3.

Fall Mountain opens the season with a 4-1 win at Mascoma

Strong start by the Wildcats as early pressure led to a penalty kick and conversion by senior forward Quinn Mitchell. Halfway through the first half, Mascoma equalized before Mitchell struck again toward the end of the half with a superb finish from a tight angle.

In the second half, Fall Mountain set the tone with another good opening spell. Maito Kishi made it 3-1 after being played through by Mitchell. Joseph Paulette’s strong run set up a fourth goal toward the end with Kishi once again finding the net.

Azyi Crews picked up the victory in his debut in the Fall Mountain goal.

“I was really happy with the collective effort of the boys in our first outing. We’ve had a tough preseason and have been beset by a couple of injuries, however all the boys produced a good opening day performance. I was particularly happy with the energy and attitude offered by our guys coming off the bench. They gave us a real boost in key phases of the game. We have a lot of work to do, but with that spirit we can be hopeful of improving as we go.”

Fall Mountain (1-0-0) heads to Conant for its next matchup on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.

Welcome back Wildcat Families! Heading back to school can be tough for most students. That's why Marketing students are once again doing their motivational gift campaign. Check out the attached flyer and email [email protected] if you would like a special gift bag made up for your child, with a message and which items. Marketing will put the bags together next week and deliver it to your child by Friday. If you pre order make sure to send cash or checks to the school for FM Creations. Students can also pick what they want during team in front of the school store Tuesday-Friday next week.

We will also be doing customized school merch this year and will be sending flyers out with more information next week. Let's have a great year.
