The Lip Sync Battle was full of big moves, great music, and a few surprises.

Two students arrived from Europe the day before, but they jumped in with their groups and performed like they had been here all month. The judges had almost as much fun as the performers, and several of the boys surprised us with their impressive dance moves.

Two days. Lots of games. Plenty of English. And a whole lot of learning.

Before school started, our international students took part in orientation. They practiced English, learned their way around campus, and got to know each other through games and activities. They also learned about classes, sports, college preparation, and the student handbook.

Two days of orientation helped our students feel more comfortable, confident, and ready for their first day of school.

Life at the International House is already in full swing.

Students are getting to know their house parents, working together in groups to earn points, helping with tasks around the house, cooking meals, and finding plenty of time to have fun.

One of the best parts of living here is getting to know students from all over the world. It is a pretty special blessing to share everyday life, learn from each other, and build friendships across cultures.

We think that is a pretty great way to start the school year.

There is something special about starting senior year at .

At Senior Sunrise our seniors gather early in the morning to watch the sunrise, enjoy breakfast, share a devotion, and take a moment to enjoy being together.

It is a pretty great way to start the year: good food, good friends, a beautiful sunrise, and a whole senior year ahead.

At , our seniors have a special tradition called Senior Walk. Parents walk their children to school on the first day of their first year of school. Then, years later, they walk them to the first day of their final year.

For our international students, their parents are thousands of miles away. So their Springwood family stepped in. House parents and international staff proudly took on the job of “stand-in parents” for the morning.

We may not be their parents by birth, but we love them, cheer for them, and support them like they are our own.

For a fun change, this year the students living in our international house are divided into teams. The teams will compete in challenges throughout the year.

For the first challenge, each team created a flag to represent its members. Now, we need your help choosing the winner.
