What a busy week! We made tornados and snow to finish up our weather unit. It rained on Thursday and we had to stay inside, but we made the most of it by having fun with parachute activities! Our butterflies are almost all hatched and we will release them next week.

We began our Weather unit this week. We did an experiment where we got to create our own rainclouds! We also received our caterpillars and have been actively observing them everyday. Their names are Sparkly, Cupcake, Cute, Rainbow, and Eyelash.

We are enjoying our new unit all about insects! We are learning about insect features and children were invited to design their own unique insect. On Friday, children enjoyed a special letter scavenger hunt which we worked together to solve and reveal a surprise activity!

Our independent projects were a success! Children researched topics of their own choice - unicorns, semi-trucks, and dinosaurs just to name a few! After recording their new learnings in their research notebooks, children were invited to choose how they wanted to share their learning with their families. Some children built with legos, some designed with clay, and one even wrote a song about his topic! We had so much sharing our learning with our families!

We are so excited to begin our Independent Projects this month! Children have selected their own topics and will learn how to conduct very basic research on their topic of choice. We have children learning about unicorns, vehicles, dinosaurs, and rainbows! Children will then choose how they wish to showcase their knowledge and share with our learning community.

This week we took our learning of our bodies to a "deeper" level by learning about our skeletons! We learned that skeletons aren't scary and that we all have them and they help us to do so many amazing things. We even created our own "x-rays" with Q-tips and measured "bones" too. We also did some really fun activities to practice our letter names and sounds, like writing letters in shaving cream!

This week, we embarked on our new unit of study, All About Our Bodies. We had a blast tracing and decorating our bodies. We labeled parts of our body and even incorporated our new math unit of study on measurement. We loved trying out our non-standard units of measurement to see how big different parts of our bodies are!
