Sampling after the Storm After a powerful weather event like Tropical Storm/Hurricane Debby, it’s not uncommon for freshwater fish species to find themselves flushed downstream and into saltier, estuarine waters. Watch this clip to join our Fisheries Independent Monitoring (FIM) biologists as they continue to conduct routine sampling efforts in the wake of the storm. By regularly conducting these surveys, our FIM team is able to monitor fish population trends on a long-term basis and collect data vital to evaluating the impacts to fisheries over time and after environmental disturbances like red tide, hurricanes, temperature anomalies, and chemical/oil spills. #BradenRiver #ManateeRiver #FIM

Great trainings held Thursday at the Energy & Marine Center for the Grade 4 Marine Explorers Program and at the Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park Env Education Center for our Grade 7 Watershed Ambassadors Program. Thank you to the awesome teachers that came out on their planning day and thank you to the PEPs crew for hosting such amazing PD.

Great day fishing with K Tech Fishing Club. We caught 12 Sheepsheads, 6 Redfish, 3 Smooth puffers, 2 Black drums, a Snook, and a Jack.

FWC dropped off some Redfish today, 200 to be exact!
