Writing on paper does something remarkable for the brain.
Neuroscientific research consistently shows that writing by hand on physical paper gives your brain a much richer workout than typing on a keyboard or on a screen. It significantly improves how you learn, process and retain information.
And cursive takes it even further.
“The continuous physical movement requires you to connect letters and anticipate the next motion, stimulating broader neural networks than printing.”
Florida students will be required to demonstrate proficiency in cursive writing under a new state law taking effect this week, making the skill a requirement before advancing to middle school.
