Time to rise, shine, sip and repeat! Join the Morning Bubbles & Brew Crew—where creativity meets caffeine! In this club, students become mini baristas, whipping up tasty coffees and fizzy dirty sodas for our amazing Stallion Staff. Once each drink masterpiece is complete, our Barista Bunch hits the road (well… the hallways!) to deliver smiles, sips, and snacks all across campus.

Our first monthly literacy challenge begins TODAY! In honor of American Founders’ Month, SMES students are encouraged to explore books and texts about the people, events, ideas, and symbols that helped shape our country.

⭐ The Challenge:
📚 Read 5 books or texts related to American Founders’ Month
✏️ Complete the Stars, Stripes & Stories Book Tracker and reading response which are being sent home
⏱️ Log 420 minutes in Beanstack between September 1–18
🏅 Complete the challenge to earn the Stars, Stripes & Stories Brag Tag!

Remember: The 420 Beanstack minutes do NOT all have to come from the five Founders’ Month texts. Regular reading counts too!

Challenge sheets are due September 18 and can be turned in to your child's teacher or Mrs. Simmons.

An email was sent to families yesterday with additional information, reading resources, and details about this year's monthly literacy challenges. Be sure to check it out!

We are so proud of our students who kept reading all summer long! Today, we celebrated our amazing summer readers who met some BIG reading goals:

Last year’s K–2 students: Read 1,250+ minutes
Last year’s 3rd–4th graders: Read 1,700+ minutes

Many of our students also completed all 8 summer reading logs—a huge accomplishment that showed their commitment to reading throughout the entire summer!

We are so proud of the hard work and dedication these Stallions showed over break. Way to keep those pages turning all summer long!

Summer reading logs are due tomorrow. Students can turn them in to their teacher or the front office. Please make sure student's names are on the logs.

We are so excited to have our students back on campus! Our first day is off to a great start, and it has been wonderful seeing our Stallions back in classrooms, reconnecting with friends, and getting ready for an amazing school year.

We loved welcoming both our returning Stallions and the many new families joining the SMES community at Meet the Teacher on Monday! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, reconnect with familiar students, and meet those beginning their journey with us.

Our staff has been working hard to prepare for an incredible school year, and we are so excited to officially kick things off tomorrow. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for the first day of school and begin another year of learning, growing, and making memories together.

We're getting excited to kick off another year of reading at SMES!

Students that were in K-4th grade last year have until 08/12 to complete the summer reading challenge. Students that participated will need to turn in their 8 reading logs by 8/17. Logs can be turned into the students teacher or dropped off at the front office for Mrs. Simmons.

Also next week when the students return to school, the 2026-2027 Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) and SSYRA Jr. challenges will be up for students in grades K–5.

This year, students will read more amazing books, log their reading in Beanstack, and work toward exciting celebrations throughout the year. Whether they're participating in SSYRA Jr. (K–2) or SSYRA (3–5), there's something for every reader!

Our first after-school Book Club will be held on Monday, August 24th and will feature Bug Bandits. More information about registration and participation will be shared once the school year begins.

Our students accomplished an amazing 1,407,939 reading minutes this school year, and we hope that love of reading continues all summer long!

Summer Reading Challenges are available for both K–2 and 3rd–4th grade students, including opportunities to earn special prizes, explore the new 2026–2027 SSYRA and SSYRA Jr. books, and prepare for next year's Benny Chats.
