When families have diverse language backgrounds, inclusive communication is essential.

Make key documents—like the school calendar, event flyers, or weekly updates—available in your community’s top spoken languages. Even translating just the main points can be helpful.

Integrate automated translation plugins on your website or use messaging apps that offer translation features. We can do this for you!

Designate staff or volunteers who can handle inquiries in various languages. These liaisons can attend school events or be available for phone calls at set times.

Use universally understood icons (like a calendar symbol for events) and simple graphics to support textual information. Visual aids help reduce language barriers and enhance comprehension.

Regularly survey parents about their preferred communication languages and formats. Adapting to families’ needs builds trust and encourages continued involvement.

Meet Rosemary Paredes! Rosemary serves as the Director of Operations bringing a wealth of experience and passion to the schools she supports. Before joining us, she was the founding Operations Manager for The Equity Project Charter School's Early Childhood Campus and later the Business Manager at their Middle School Campus. With a diverse background that even includes being a flight attendant for JetBlue Airways, Rosemary is deeply passionate about community building and reforming educational policies. Through her work in education management, she is committed to empowering Black and Brown youth to unlock their potential as the next generation of leaders.
