Basic Beginner Soft Pastel on Suede Matboard: A Glowing Sunset
Join Lisa as she leads you through this vibrant sunset painting. NuPastels, Rembrandt, & Sennelier pastels will create the perfect blend to achieve a beautiful sunset as we use suede matboard as our substrate. This class is a great way for you to try this medium as all supplies are provided. Sure to be a fun and informative time in a relaxed atmosphere.

About the Instructor: Lisa Krueger
Lisa Krueger creates art using a variety of mediums such as watercolor, pastel, acrylic, alcohol ink, oil, cold wax, and mixed media. She is blessed to live in the back woods of Tomahawk. Her inspiration comes from sunsets, snow that glistens, amazing Autumn color, peaceful lakes, streams, and wildlife. She finds joy in teaching a variety of classes throughout the Northwoods. Oak View Studio is where she creates, located just steps from her home nestled between large Oaks. She is part of the Lakeland and Manitowish Art Leagues and serves on the Lakeland Art League Board. She is also a member of the North Woods Art Tour. Her art is displayed in area galleries and businesses.

Coffee and Canvas: Gnome-vember
Join us for an enchanting morning of creativity as we paint a gnome in celebration of Gnome-vember! LOLA will provide a variety of coffees and tea, or bring any beverage of your choosing. Each student will leave with their own canvas. This class is in the upstairs classroom.

About the Instructor: Dr. Donna Murray-Tiedge
Donna has loved art ever since she can remember. Art was one of her favorite subjects throughout her K-12 experience. She won a national drawing award in high school. She studied industrial design in college and after working as an “artist for industry” for twenty-five years, she returned to academia to gain teaching credentials. She has a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in art and design and a PhD in aesthetic education (teaching through the arts). She has taught at the University of Illinois, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and Stevens Point, and online for Kent State. She continues to teach online for Boston University. She dabbles in diverse mediums, including drawing, painting, photography, and woodworking. She has been vacationing in Land O Lakes since 1969 and became a permanent resident in 2015.

New Class Added! Gnome Wall Decorations

We are celebrating GNOME-vember at LOLA this November with several gnome themed classes :)

Join Jeannie to create your version of a fun Fall Gnome which will look great on your door or wall. We will use foam board, leaves, burlap/fabric, and small bits of decor for this project. The finished project is approximately 33" x 12" in size. Please register by November 9th so that the instructor can prepare all materials!

About the Instructor: Jeannie Arndt
Jeannie has been active in theater arts since high school, but became interested in upcycling furniture around 2010. Eventually, she began creating more small crafts. When she moved to Eagle River during retirement, she offered a craft class as a lark. Her success led to her offering one class per month with the exception of summers when she enjoys the lakes and summer company. Jeannie has been invited to teach at multiple locations throughout Vilas County. This is her first offering at LOLA.

Lake Superior Driftwood - Gnomes
Get ready to create a little Northwoods magic! Join us for a fun and whimsical art class where you'll transform unique pieces of Lake Superior driftwood into one-of-a-kind gnomes. Give your gnome its own personality with found beach treasures, metal, rocks, birch bark, moss, and other delightful goodies. All materials are provided, but you're welcome to bring along your own special treasures or adornments to make your gnome truly unique!

With a deep passion for creation and traditional craftsmanship, Sandy brings both skill and heart to her work. Though semi-retired from her day job, she remains fully dedicated to the art of broom making and enjoys sharing her knowledge through classes held in Marquette, Baraga, L’Anse, the Porcupine Mountains, and Calumet.
