Inspired by the high desert, McAfee combines photography, embroidery and fabric to create richly textured landscapes that celebrate the beauty and character of the region.

From the AVC Wildland Fire Academy to the fireline in Montana 🔥

Fourteen AVC students recently completed a 16-day wildfire assignment in the Lolo National Forest, putting their training into action alongside experienced fire personnel.

For some, it was their first wildfire. For others, the experience reinforced their plans to pursue careers in wildland firefighting.

“My first fire taught me the importance of teamwork, staying calm under pressure, and trusting the training I received during the Wildland Academy,” student firefighter Demonte Williams said.

Antelope Valley College has been awarded the NASA Aerospace Skilled Technical Workforce Hub Grant and will serve as the lead institution for the Southern California NASA Aerospace Skilled Technical Workforce Hub.

In partnership with Pasadena City College and MiraCosta College, the three-year regional consortium will strengthen Southern California's aerospace workforce pipeline by developing and expanding industry-aligned education, work-based learning opportunities, and career pathways that prepare students for high-demand technical careers supporting NASA and the aerospace industry.

The Hub will collaborate with NASA, aerospace industry partners, K-12 Career Technical Education programs, and regional workforce development organizations to align education and training with industry workforce needs while creating sustainable pathways into aerospace careers. The initiative will also develop and share innovative curriculum models and workforce strategies that can benefit community colleges throughout California.

Congratulations to the AVC Radiography Program students, faculty, and staff on achieving a 100% first-time pass rate on the ARRT Radiography Certification Examination for the second consecutive year.

This year's graduates also earned an outstanding 93% cumulative average examination score, exceeding the national average of 81%. These results reflect the dedication of AVC students, the expertise of the program's faculty, and the high-quality clinical education that prepares graduates for successful careers in medical imaging.

Congratulations to everyone who helped make this remarkable achievement possible!

Another race weekend is in the books for the AVC Marauders Racing Club! 🏁

The team returned to Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway on Saturday for its second-ever race, with Albert Brubaker behind the wheel of the No. 29 Marauders Racing Chevrolet SS.

Every lap. Every adjustment. Every race. A new opportunity to learn.

Through the Marauders Racing Club, students gain hands-on experience in fabrication, engineering, teamwork, and race-day operations.

The future is looking fast... and we're only getting started.
