How we celebrated Black History Month with our students including the books that we read to them and one of our bulletin boards. We taught them about Jackie Robinson, Rosa Parks, Garrett Morgan and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, sharing excerpts of his famous "I Have A Dream" speech. We were honored to have Story Time with one of our former students who is now in 1st grade but still comes to visit us from time to time.

Uni-Vision Childcare is PA's first and currently only, STAR 4 Spanish Immersion childcare center. Uni-Vision, where we believe in One Vision….to provide a superior Spanish- English bilingual education for
all students.

Our belief is that a child given the right tools, education and motivation have the best chance for long term success. We recognize that the future of our world is in our classrooms. We understand that communication and language development are a critical part of a child’s learning foundation. That is why we start instilling those key components at a very early age, while their precious minds are

A new addition to our Teacher's Lounge. A Teacher's Prayer - God grant me the wisdom to educate with love, to see each student as a gift that's sent from up above. God grant me the patience to help each student grow by giving them the tools to learn the things they need to know. May I be a blessing, tolerant and kind, as I teach the lessons that will influence each mind. May I take a moment every day in prayer, to show each student just how much I care. Amen 🙏🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏿

Today in 2016. This is still my favorite video of my students. We taught them about a very important life lesson...RESPONSIBILITY! We taught them how to be responsible for and take care of their things. With it being a hot day and us wanting to do something fun, we decided to have a Car Wash and wash all of our riding toys and trucks. We all had so much fun with this activity. They were so happy to help and took such pride in their work. We still have all of these riding toys to this day because they take care of them. I miss them being this small.

Some of our students in their new face shields.

Our students are loving their new face shields! I purchased all of our students these new, cool face coverings. Regular face masks were difficult to use especially to learn language. These shields are a huge success. Students are able to keep them on during meal times and eat regularly. They are able to wear them outside and play freely, not having to worry about social distancing because these shields still reduce the spread of germs. Best of all is that we can still see our student's beautiful faces and hear them clearly speaking.

Pennsylvania has issued a universal face covering order for everyone over 2 years old, including while in child care. The Order requires individuals to wear a "face covering." "Face covering" means a covering of the nose and mouth that is secured to the head with ties, straps, or loops over the ears or is wrapped around the lower face. A "face covering" can include a plastic face shield that covers the nose and mouth. Let me know if you are interested in purchasing. They come in different colors and characters. Message me for additional information.

Today is . From the National Education Association, "Worldwide, girls continue to be discriminated against based on cultural attitudes, child labor, conflict, and domestic labor. The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural organization (UNESCO) Education for All Global Monitoring Report, released a new policy paper that states: the number of children out of school has fallen from 60 million in 2008 to 57 million in 2011. However, 28 million children out of school live in the world's conflict zones; more than half of those are women and girls." We thank Malala for her tireless efforts to bring attention to this important issue.

Our Story

Uni-Vision Childcare’s mission is to provide a high quality, educational environment, teaching students to become BILINGUAL (ability to speak two different languages), BILITERATE (ability to read and write in two different languages) and BICULTURAL (having the cultural customs of two different nationalities). We believe the gift of language is an investment that lasts a lifetime! “One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way.” - Frank Smith

Uni-Vision Childcare is Pennsylvania’s first STAR 4 rated Spanish Immersion childcare center. Our program, which distinguishes us from other high-quality preschool and child care centers, is to foster the acquisition and development of a foreign language as important as Spanish. We are a state recognized learning center, offering the only Spanish based early childhood curriculum in our area. This is a truly new and innovative concept in child care with a specially designed curriculum that focuses on the bilingual language in our young students. The fastest and most effective way to achieve fluency in a language is through immersion. At Uni-Vision, our students are immersed in a full Spanish class, meaning that teaching and interaction is conducted entirely in Spanish. This provides an environment where no translation and no memorization are needed, just seamless acquisition of a second language. Through the duration of it, our students learn every day and applicable theme (daily interactions, colors, numbers, shapes, routines, commands etc.).

The limits of our language mean the limits of our world. Our program offers students the ability to become bilingual at a very young age. Exposure to a second language should begin as early as possible. The chances of achieving full fluence in another language are much higher if study is begun in the first five years of life, since the human brain is wired to learn language during this critical period. Our students will be able to speak and understand both English and Spanish. Unlike learning a language later in life, young children typically do not feel inhibited or scared to speak a new language. Research shows that learning a second language enhances intellectual development and improves overall school performance. It also shows that bilingual students gain additional academic, cognitive and employment benefits later in life. Spanish is the most useful language to know in the United States in the 21st Century. Students will become accustomed to hearing the Spanish language through sensory-rich activities, movement, music, play and a strong literature component. Our program balances fun and learning while offering children opportunities to expand their language development, making learning memorable and enjoyable. Children will be encouraged to speak the language when they are ready.

We are currently using the Spanish Edition of The Creative Curriculum which is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning to enable children to develop confidence, creativity and lifelong critical thinking skills. The Creative Curriculum has been nationally recognized as one of the most effective curriculums in the country. This edition is the foundation for our bilingual based program to be responsive to the interest and developmental needs of our students, integrating learning into every moment of the day.

At Uni-Vision, we have multi-age groups, which means that children of different ages may be in the same classroom or
may spend time together during the day. A multi-age grouping provides a more family-like setting for children. It allows children to learn from each other, enables teachers to gear their expectations to a child's individual development rather than age and increases the likelihood that a child will have someone to interact with at their developmental level.

OUR STAFF

Uni-Vision Childcare employs loving and patient staff of good moral character, carefully chosen, highly trained and
professional. All staff must have FBI Criminal Background clearances, Child Abuse Registry clearances, bi-annual
physicals, First Aid and CPR certification, fire safety and emergency preparedness training. Staff also receive additional professional development training in all aspects of child care, minimum 24 hours yearly. All classroom Lead Teachers have degrees in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education.
